This month, in honor of Valentine's Day, we'll focus on celestial star pairs and constellation couples.
Let's look at some celestial pairs!
The constellations Perseus and Andromeda are easy to see high overhead this month.
According to lore, the warrior Perseus spotted a beautiful woman--Andromeda--chained to a seaside rock. After battling a sea serpent, he rescued her.
As a reward, her parents Cepheus and Cassiopeia allowed Perseus to marry Andromeda.
The great hunter Orion fell in love with seven sisters, the Pleiades, and pursued them for a long time. Eventually Zeus turned both Orion and the Pleiades into stars.
Orion is easy to find. Draw an imaginary line through his belt stars to the Pleiades, and watch him chase them across the sky forever.
A pair of star clusters is visible on February nights. The Perseus Double Cluster is high in the sky near Andromeda's parents Cepheus and Cassiopeia.
Through binoculars you can see dozens of stars in each cluster. Actually, there are more than 300 blue-white supergiant stars in each of the clusters.
There are some colorful star pairs, some visible just by looking up and some requiring a telescope. Gemini's twins, the brothers Pollux and Castor, are easy to see without aid.
Orion's westernmost, or right, knee, Rigel, has a faint companion. The companion, Rigel B, is 500 times fainter than the super-giant Rigel and is visible only with a telescope.
Orion's westernmost belt star, Mintaka, has a pretty companion. You'll need a telescope.
Finally, the moon pairs up with the Pleiades on the 22nd and with Pollux and Castor on the 26th.

Headcanon: Ryder twins planting a tree on Earth during their last days in the Milky Way. “It’s nice to feel we’re leaving a trace here, right Scott?”
Headcanon: Ryder is actually a huge Shepard fan: she idolizes her a lot and wants to be just like her. What she doesn’t know is that she already took the first step: Shepard ate potato chips in bed as well.
I’ll probably regret coming up with my Ryder’s looks before knowing character creator’s limitations, but whatever. Meet Nef Ryder, a Shepard fangirl, a free spirit and the smart sibling.
I resisted the hype for long enough, but…
So I’m still full of ME3 feels and I was listening to some music and it struck me how much Florence and the Machine’s “Over the Love” fit post-synthesis Shepard x Liara romance. So here it is, a short comic featuring Dr Liara T’Soni, @cosmicawesome‘s Shepard and their everlasting love (even gone, he’s always by her side). Also I’m too lazy to clean up them scans, whatever.
So I’m finally playing ME3 and I just have too many feelings. I can’t get myself to finish the last mission… I have this morbid feeling…

- Are we going to go already!?
- Trixie, don't grumble, we're on our way out
Possible Characters: As far as I know, there is leaked in for about a Krogan named Drak and a female character of an unknown race. Main Character: The main character is said to be named Ryder, after the first American Female Astronaut, Sally Ride. Their origin is currently unreleased, as well as their default face, but they are, in fact, a human member of the N7 unit, probably meaning that they have a companion/possible love interest also in that unit. The environments/world exploration: Pioneering! Adventuring! FUCKING OPEN WORLDS!!! I don't know how wide! But there might be open maps, like in Dragon Age: Inquisition! The Mako is back! You can create settlements for races across the Andromeda galaxy while kicking ass in space!!! (*sigh* sorry, had to get that out...too much excitement) The story: Thus far as I can tell, you are Ryder, a human, pioneering new homes for races of the Milky Way in their destination of the Andromeda Galaxy. There's a few new species of aliens (possibly romancable, I don't know) and a race that wants to pick a fight and kill your people. So, in conclusion...get out there, buy lots of chocolate and sweatpants, because this shit is gonna be emotional. And in the words of Commander Jane Shepard...this is me, signing off...to go scoll in more blogs 😎
33% download of the Mass Effect: Andromeda Deluxe Edition. This will be my first time playing this game, and I am excited to play it! Especially, after I completed the ME trilogy in a week and a half. I really enjoyed the romance, and I worked really hard to make sure my characters thrived. I can no longer say the same for myself, but I can say I feel better.
I almost have the courage to be accountable for my actions take action for a good cause. Like Shepard and her friends, I want to choose the paragon life and lead a way of being that is enriching and woke. Compared to my comfort as a closeted wreck in a conservative family of sexism and neglect.
I need to take steps towards a just future, and enjoying a hobby like video games can be okay if I balance work and play.
