Summary! at some point something fell from earth and crashed into earth. A new hero rises up in the city of Metropolis and catches the eye of Earth’s Mightiest Defenders, and it ends up getting a bit too far.
Part 2 (Coming Soon!)
don’t ask about the timeline or anything call it an au where endgame doesn’t happen :D
Somewhere in Kansas a space shuttle fell to earth. It was never found, but the couple said to be incapable of having children had a child, and a dog too.
A child that was above from normal. That being you. An alien from the planet Krypton that had died. You and your dog, Krypto being the only one of your kind.
The last surviving Kryptonians.
Your new parents were a joy to have. You loved them and they raised you very protectively, and in return you cared for them.
With your strength, and Krypto you helped save your city Metropolis for the first time. The massive billionaire Lex Luthor caused massive damage and almost killed a bunch of people if not for you.
Dressed in blue and red you were a symbol of hope. The S across your chest being a family crest. One of the last of your parents own existence.
The people loved you, and you find the world was interested in you. A hero that came out of nowhere.
And certainly you were loved. Nick Fury couldn’t deny the need to get you on the team of train wrecks.
In fact, it could all be seen all the way to a Spider Boy who could only look at the footage in awe. The hero was someone who Peter Parker aimed to be.
Beside him was Wanda, the Scarlet Witch who looked on with awe in her eyes as well. As a woman who’s gone after bad thing after bad thing she couldn’t help but want goodness.
You were goodness. She could feel it, even if it was through a video.
Tony was apprehensive but even so he never seen someone so good. It was like you never faced horror ever. Your kindness and not a hint of showing off, or playing around while fighting.
Determination.
Captain America; Steve Rogers saw himself in you. Goodness that he could never achieve. One that smiled despite it all, while somberness swallowed him into a boastful mouth.
Bucky would have to agree. He was smiling once back then, and you were literal sunshine. A smile on those lips with such natural strength, and treating civilians with such kindness.
Thor found you adorable, and could feel that you were worthy of his hammer. Even through videos of you he felt like you were worthy. Absolutely beautiful he also thought. What man could fly through the air so gracefully like that. Without a care, and just as quick.
Natasha and Clint admired you. Albeit maybe it was a sense of something they never got. A man who hadn’t ever killed in his life, and was smiling. A sense of light they never got, and there you were.
Sunshine for them to bask themselves in.
Bruce felt wary but you were strong. No anger seemed to be in your body. Surely yes you seemed angry at Lex Luthor but that was for obvious reasons. You weren’t always angry like him. Angry only when necessary, unlike him.
Control of yourself is what you had.
A semblance of this world is that it was corrupt. A source of true good like you, and while you weren’t of them you believed in good.
Good in human beings.
The avengers knew better.
So when you’re recruited they aimed to make sure you’d ease into that reality. When offered the chance you jumped at it.
Imagine the surprise when Krypto arrived by your side. The avengers were no less taken aback and flustered.
You smiled big and wide. Nothing to hide and kind to them all.
Unbeknownst to you the immediate thought of you changed. A being that was good and needed to be protected. This group had been through terrible things, and it brought them down.
Made them turn darker.
Wanda knew that better than anyone.
Bucky hated himself for it.
Peter remembered the days when people knew of him, and how in those last moments back then he almost committed true murder.
They hid it well.
Steve would greet you with open arms and a welcoming smile, “Welcome to the team!” He would pat you on the shoulder. He would blink when it felt like metal.
You would laugh brightly, and saying a lot of people said that. Although it wasn’t like you were gonna say you were an alien. Not yet anyway.
They would find out anyway. Thanking Wanda for that, for she read your mind.
Imagine the wonder Peter had when he talked to you. Over the years now that he was Spider-Man he had lost his once happy attitude in being a hero.
You a little older than him was still hopeful, and hadn’t started as a teenager. You were hopeful and Peter couldn’t help but admire you. That smile; the one he lost and you still had it.
You can’t blame him when he stole one of your notebooks. The pages had tons of notes of your perceived faults and self-hatred. Don’t blame him when he shows Steve and Tony.
Don’t mind the confusion when the entire team is praising you more than usual. Any time you lift something instead of the Hulk Bruce smiles. His anger dismissed and he’s praising you despite his shy nature.
Don’t be surprised when you get hurt and spit blood that you get tested by the scientist. Tony even going as far as tweaking your suit to make sure you’re more protected. It was sweet, but useless venture to say you didn’t need it.
Of course you needed it. You were young, and even had fewer experience than Peter. You had no idea what you were talking about. Bruce and Tony were older.
They knew better, and told you that.
Naively, you shrugged it off. Krypto would only tilt his head at the them, and albeit he became much more close to you.
Wanda didn’t seem to like the change.
Once or twice Krypto would stare at her. ‘Try it.’ The dog was protective and a nuisance. He could feel the darkness. The woman was more susceptible to the darkness. The obsession of getting you to herself.
The others so far, Bruce and Tony already got hands on you when you got injured. Although never really seemed to look into your mind. What if you got brain damage?
She could fix it. Her magic would change it from affecting you. Peter had too much time with you. She was more your age, so you should be with her.
In a way you reminded her of Vision. Kind and understanding. Normalcy that she begged for and clung to.
Maybe she could change the dog but you would notice. It would make you sad, and she didn’t want that. Surely she was wanting you to herself, but your happiness also mattered.
She would be careful.
Get Krypto’s trust was her plan.
The two who have killed before were floored with the kindness. With the protectiveness you gave them.
In act of almost being killed you rang over them with your huge size and protecting them in the blast. Your scream of pain was loud in their ears.
Thor heard it loud and clear. The enemy was on the floor in seconds. Too brutal for normal, and you questioned Thor.
The god gave an excuse that you completely fell for. Too sweet and naive for this world. A sheltered kid in the Midwest fields, with protective parents.
Still too unforgiving of this horrible world.
Thor couldn’t tell you that he almost aimed to kill the attacker.
Natasha would share a look with him.
They knew. Murder was out of the question, but when you screamed like that they knew that maybe maiming was the move. Clint would talk to you as the two discussed what to do with the assailant.
Hearing the news Bucky would want to check over your wounds. There were none but it didn't stop him from getting those mental fingers on your bare skin.
You would shiver. Cold against your warm skin. Shining like the sun Bucky would think. Steve would look too.
A body like his own and invincible to harm.
At least they thought.
Kryptonite was horrible. Lex Luthor's laugh haunted them. You on the floor and holding your chest. Blood flowing from your mouth and a bullet in your chest.
Bruce was terrified.
Peter and Wanda beside themselves.
And so when you awake from your slumber don't ask about the disappearance of Lex Luthor. Don't ask why you can't hear his distinct heat beat.
Don't ask your still on bed rest, and Krypto is so much more hostile towards everyone now. Wary of Wanda and her glares to your dog.
Don't ask why Bruce's lingering touch stayed.
Don't ask why your mind seemed played with.
Don't bother with the protective members who've been known to kill before to be so close to you.
Don’t tell Peter to leave your side. Don't ask Steve to stop defending your city, Metropolis.
All the avengers ask of you is to keep that smile on your face no matter how confused you are.
To keep there goodness, and to never be corrupted.
To be good.
Marvel characters x oblivious!reader
Steve Rogers:
Steve and you had been getting to know each other for the past few months and were becoming good friends. Although, Steve had begun to get feelings for you that were not so friendly. He wanted more out of your guys' relationship.
He'd never been good with flirting, but decided to at least try in doing so incase he scared you off or made you uncomfortable by being too upfront.
So, while on a walk with you one winter day, Steve decided to make his move.
"Y'know, Buck once told me pretty girls always have cold hands." The cold didn't bother Steve because he was a Super-Soldier, but he assumed that it would cause some discomfort for a normal human.
You look down at your hands.
"Huh. Mine are always warm." But either way, you shoved your hands in your jacket pocket, not noticing that Steve had put out his hand for you to hold.
Peter Parker
Peter and you had been going out for a little while now, and every time he'd try to flirt with you, you'd be oblivious. So after building up some confidence (with the help of Ned), he asked you. "Can I have a kiss?"
You look at Peter in shock, wondering how he knew you had a bag of kiss in your bag. You rummage through it and hand him one.
"Here," You say, handing the small chocolate to him.
Ned held in a laugh.
"Th-thanks?" Peter said, his voice cracking with confusion and embarrassment at being rejected - even if it was done obliviously by you.
Wanda Maximoff
Wanda had tried flirting with you before and you would never quite get the hint. She had assumed there was something wrong with the way she tried to make romantic advances with you and went to the Natasha to get some pointers.
Later on, Wanda decided to use some of Nat's tips.
Wanda asked you if you wanted to bake cookies with her and invited you into the Avengers Tower kitchen.
While you both were baking and talking, Wanda would try to make her laughs sound breathy when you made a joke or would compliment you from time to time.
When she noticed you were having trouble icing one of the cookies, she stood behind you, and gently wrapped one of her hands around your hand that was holding the piping bag while you held onto the cookie.
"Here," she whispered, her hot breath hitting your ear as she helped you ice your cookie.
After Wanda was done, she placed the icing bag on the counter and looked at you, trying to see if her flirting had done the trick. But you don't notice anything out of the ordinary.
"Thanks, Wanda," you say, thinking she was just trying to be helpful.
You went to grab another cookie to ice, when she suddenly grabbed your chin. "You have something on your face," she says.
You look up at her in surprise as she swipes her thumb against your cheek. She brings her thumb to her mouth before licking the icing off.
You look up at Wanda, your brows furrowed. "That's disgusting, Wanda."

Wanda was not expecting to choose to live a quiet life with her variant and her little, and she most certainly wasn’t expecting both of them to happily accept her into their lives - but it was exactly the environment she never knew she needed.
It took a while for the three of you to get used to the dynamic. It was much easier for you, since you were already used to living with one Wanda. This new Wanda was just a little more broken around the edges, a little more paranoid and possessive of you, needing a lot of reassurance - which you were more than willing to provide.
When you called her Mommy for the first time, you could practically see her tear up before she held you tighter, kissing your forehead and saying, “Yes, little one. Mommy’s here.”
Mama and Mommy took a little more time getting used to each other - caught up in the idea that they were seeing the best and worst of each other laid out so plainly in front of them - but Mama’s soft approach to helping Mommy made the process a lot smoother for both of them.
You actually didn’t realize that their relationship had developed into something more than just both being your mommies for a while. That was, until one day you woke up from a deep sleep, confused and cold because of the empty bed.
You padded into the kitchen, Wandabear tucked under your arm and paci in your mouth, following the soft glow of the light over the sink. The pair were leaned against the counter, sharing soft kisses and caresses. It looked like Mommy had been crying, her tired eyes rimmed with red. But you could see a soft smile planted clearly on her face as Mama kissed her nose like she does with you when you’re feeling down.
The moment was so intimate that you were about to creep back into bed and wait for them to return, but of course with two mind readers they were well aware of your presence.
Mommy Wanda will sometimes get really moody and frustrated with herself for feeling that way and sometimes will accidentally snap at both of you. The first time this happened, you were immediately taken back to that first time you met her and she was in a crazed fury looking for her children, startled by finding you and Mama instead.
She’s getting better about her temper. Mama has helped a lot, urging her to use her words and talk the feelings out rather than bottling them up until she snaps. Sometimes she still gets in cloudy moods, but she’s made a lot of progress and is able to get through them a lot easier with you and Mama helping.
Mommy Wanda is very very whipped for both of you, as much as she denies it.
All three of you have the biggest praise kinks.
Mommy and Mama both get incredibly soft when they’re fucking and the other calls tells them how good they’re doing. And you are just always eager for positive attention from them both <3
They’re both strict with you but in very different ways.
Mommy is much more likely to let you get away with breaking rules, like sneaking you cookies and letting you stay up past your bedtime. But she is also much more likely to punish you with spankings if you talk back to her.
“Watch your tone with me, little devil,” is something you hear probably multiple times a day because you kind of can’t help riling Mommy up.
Mama, on the other hand, is very strict on your daily rules. No dessert before you finish your dinner. Bedtime at 10pm. No throwing a tantrum to get something you want in the store. But if you give her a little sass, she’s usually just going to roll her eyes and let you get your bratty energy out before asking, “Are you done now, baby?” and you just pout at her and nod.
Mama much prefers corner time as a punishment. Or writing lines. She doesn’t like to do impact play with you (but does rather enjoy the way you squirm as Mommy turns your cheeks red).
Both of them enjoy watching the other fuck you a lot. Mommy is a lot rougher than Mama - who was surprised at how much you loved the hard treatment. You had never expressed to her how you thought about her just using you. Mommy was more than willing to help fulfil those fantasies.
The three of you always end up taking a big bath together after a tiring play session. You all barely all fit in the tub together - even after Mama got a new one.
Mommy really loves washing you. It’s therapeutic for her to take care of you like that.
Bedtime always consists of a lot of cuddles and kisses and sweet words before the three of you drift off to sleep.

A/N - Starting a new Wanda series, set directly after Lagos.
You heard the thunder of footsteps before you saw the oncoming crowd. You stilled at the exterior gate of your apartment buildings’s shared courtyard. You caught sight of the oncoming sprawl of press, reporters and camera flashes that you’d never seen in this sleepy town before. Then, you heard what they were yelling and you realised that you were standing in the path of an oncoming mob.
And at the front, like a fox in a hunt, ran a red headed girl.
The panic was evident in her eyes, even at a distance. Time sped up as the mob approached you and the girl fled towards where you stood. You realised that, inevitably, your action or inaction was now going to matter.
The girl was gaining some distance on the crowd in her impossible attempt to shake them, benefitting from her ability to better weave and dodge oncoming pedestrians.
It gave you the few seconds that you needed.

“Hey, can you take the customers that just came in?” you hear your manager ask and nod, smoothing your apron as you head to the front.
“Good morning! How can I help you today?”
Two women stand on the other side of the counter, and as their attention diverts from the items behind the glass to you, charming smiles appear on their faces. The one on your left has bright blonde hair resting on her shoulders in contrast to her counterpart with orange hair, both hiding behind sunglasses, but you couldn’t help feeling like you’d seen them somewhere.
“Good morning, love,” the orange haired woman speaks softly as she steps a bit closer. “We’ve never been here before. What do you recommend?”
“If you’re feeling something sweet, these donuts are amazing,” you tell them as you gesture to a couple, moving down the counter a bit and the pair follows. “If not, these cheddar bagels are also my favorite.”
“I think we’ll take something sweet,” the blonde woman answers with a grin. “If you don’t mind.”
“Not at all!”
You carefully package the donuts that your customers select and ring up the transaction, answering a few questions about what the city is like, as they’re apparently just visiting for a while and wanted to know more about the area. When you finish, you’re startled by the blonde woman leaning over the counter to tuck a cash tip in your apron pocket before the pair thanks you and head out while holding hands.
“They must really like you,” your manager jokes as they approach and you cover your face with a laugh.
Outside of the bakery, Wanda climbs onto the bike behind Natasha, placing the food in her bag before wrapping her arms around her waist.
“Do you think asking someone we just met to join us while we’re on the run is coming off too strong?” Wanda asks over Natasha’s shoulder, who chuckles in response almost immediately.
“Who said we were going to ask?”
Sweet of you to recommend me💕 These fics are also very good!😊

Wanda was ignoring you, looking instead in the full length mirror that made up the middle panel of the wardrobe.
You watched her fingers as she scraped her hair back into a high ponytail. The reddish brown hair colour of it shone under the bedroom’s overhead light.
Your stomach twisted with an automatic rush of attraction for Wanda as she focused carefully on her reflection.

You never really noticed it. You've lived so long without it, it's never really occurred to you.
That's how things slip under the radar, after all. You live for so long without something, you end up never thinking about it.
You can't remember the last time someone has held you for longer than a second. You get quick hugs here and there from your friends and your family and kisses on the cheek in passing greetings and farewells.
But shit.
When was the last time you actually physically had someone hold you or hold them?
You weren't even aware of it until you got to know Wanda more. A strange superhero who visited the library for hours on end in a bean chair, watching shows on her laptop.
Nothing had ever really happened—you never wanted to intrude in her space, and she definitely looked like she didn't want anyone to interrupt her.
As you stacked books, you thought about what would bring someone like her to the library so often. It would be much more comfortable to watch shows in the comfort of your own home, wouldn't it?
But you see the things in the news, the things people write about her online, and you think—maybe Wanda Maximoff doesn't feel like she really has a home anywhere because her real home was blown up in the sky.
Maybe people like Wanda Maximoff also need an escape and somewhere quiet to be left alone.
You try to be respectful of that. You never hover or gawk at her. You politely let her know when the library is closing and never linger. If Wanda appreciated any of that, you'd never know as she never said anything or looked at you.
That's fine; you've never been one to stand out anyway.
Until you do. At least to her.
On a sunny day, the paparazzi catches wind of her in the library and huddle around the windows to snap pictures inside. Wanda looks like her world has collapsed once more. People grumble like it's Wanda's fault they can't get any peace and quiet in there—like she's the reason the sun was being blocked from shining inside.
Ridiculous; honestly, you think.
You close the blinds to the library as if it's a very common thing to do during the busiest hour of the day. You ask Wanda to pack up her things, and she does without giving you a fuss but looking somewhat forlorn.
It isn't until you lead her into the staff room with a sofa, a small kitchen to the side, and windows with mosaic glass films covering it. It still allows the light to come in but offers the privacy Wanda just lost.
It's then that Wanda realized you weren't kicking her out and banning her from the library.
"You'll have to stick it out here for a bit. I'm sure the paparazzi will get bored at some point," you shrug. "No one really comes in here except me. The other staff pop in for coffee but everyone else likes to eat at that cafe across the street."
Wanda looks around, her leg and fingers suddenly feeling jittery.
"Thank you," she finally tells you sincerely. "You didn't have to...I'm sure your other customers are upset you closed the blinds."
You roll your eyes. "I'm sure they'll survive a couple hours without the natural light." You stand up and get ready to go back outside. "Vitamin D is overrated anyway."

Something friendly brews between the simple civilian and the superhero. She says she doesn't really see herself as a superhero, though. Superheroes probably haven't killed many people before, even if inadvertently.
Wanda says she's her...just with a little more.
Honestly, you don't really care. You're well aware you don't belong in her world—the world of chaos, training, and preparing for the next time Earth might be threatened.
The only thing you worry about is your building collapsing while you're in it if the Earth ends and your student loans.
"I don't know..." you tell Wanda as she asks if you'd be willing to go to the Compound during the day before your shift starts at the library.
Unfortunately, the paparazzi never did get bored, and they've taken to staking out the area knowing Wanda would come in. Since Wanda had stopped, the paparazzi also stopped.
The idea of meeting other superheroes doesn't really appeal to you. It feels strange and honestly overwhelming.
But when Wanda purses her lips, you relent.
You don't really understand Wanda, and you find yourself not really pushing to endeavor to. You let her set the pace and get to know each other slowly without expectations.
In the back of your mind, you distantly realize that you're not a very physically intimate person, or at least you've become someone who isn't physically intimate anymore.
You remember the days in high school when you used to hold your best friend's hand innocently all the time. The days when you hugged someone boisterously and kisses their cheek.
You wonder what happened.
But Wanda isn't someone who was touchy either.
At least that's what it had seemed like in the beginning. Even though Wanda admitted she liked your company, she had never offered a hug when seeing you.
Until you came to the Compound.
And it was like the privacy of the thick concrete walls and distance from everything else made her feel safer.
A brief hug. Awkward and unsure.
You barely had time to even feel the pressure of her hands and chest before she moved away.
"Was that...is it okay?" She asked, and you almost laughed at how she was asking for permission after hugging you.
"Of course," you smile at her, unsure of what to make of it all.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷
Brief hugs become regular.
And because they were so brief, it took a long time for them to become less awkward.
There's a certain energy around Wanda. You don't want to say that she's awkward, but she's—antsy.
You only figure out what's exactly wrong when you're having dinner with her and the rest of her friends, and she puts her hand on the space between your shoulders just below your neck.
She lingers.
And when the warmth from her hands seep through your shirt into your skin, you feel your body becomes hot with heat. You can feel her rings pressed into you, and as she applies more pressure from her fingers, moving across your back, you tense to hold the moan in the back of your throat.
Mortification sets in as you realize two things.
One, Wanda was a physically intimate person. Two, you were severely touched deprived to the point that someone just touching your back was setting you off.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷
The new physical intimacy makes you unsure. A small war rages within you with what you want to do. A part of you wants to touch and be touched by Wanda. The other part of you wants to shirk away.
You don't remember what it feels like to be held by someone for the sake of being held. There's some memory of it vaguely in the back of your mind, but that was a distant memory.
You're lying on the bed with Wanda, reading a book as she watches TV. You notice that she watches a lot of sitcoms. You've asked why and remember her saying it's comforting that so much could happen in one episode, and be all resolved in the end.
Such small insights happen between the two of you. You never really say what's the issue, but the other person seemingly can always read between the lines.
Suddenly, Wanda turns on her side as she scoots up against you, her arm over your stomach and leg hooking over yours. Her cheek is pressed against your shoulder as she continues to stare at the TV.
Your body does that weird thing where it clenches up, and you immediately begin to feel sweaty.
How was it possible for someone to be so warm?
And soft.
Occasionally, Wanda's hand would drift over yours when she held you, and you hadn't realized someone could be so gentle to touch.
There's another realization that there's an intimacy of knowing someone when they hold you because you also know what she smells like chai and orange blossoms.
You don't know what to do with that information.
All you know is that there's a lump in the back of your throat as you try to focus back on your book. She strokes your side and the top half of your thighs, and you swallow harshly.
When Wanda feels you beginning to tremble, she stops and looks at you with concern.
"Are you okay?" She asks slowly as she sits up, still touching you.
You were totally losing your marbles in front of Wanda, and the entire thing is mortifying.
Her tone is so gentle and caring, and you felt your eyes burn.
"I don't know," you bite out, and it's true. You want to say yes, but you also want to say no.
Wanda stares at you a long time as you stubbornly stare at your book even when your eyes feel wet.
You feel Wanda pull away, and despite your unsureness, that feels even worse.
"If don't want to be touched, you can just say so," Wanda tells you gently with no malice or hurt behind her words and tone. But she sounds insecure, and that makes you want to really break out into a sob.
And although the book is your only shield from Wanda seeing total vulnerability, you close it and set it aside on her night table.
"I know," you tell her stiffly as you put your hands in your lap. "It's not that I don't want to. It's just—it's been a while since someone has touched me the way you do."
You pick at the invisible cotton on your pants.
"It's just...it feels overwhelming—to be this close to someone. I both want it and don't want it." You purse your lips the moments the words came out of your mouth. "Well, I feel like I don't want it because—I don't know—it feels like it's too good to be true."
Wanda watches as you stumble over your words as you subtly try to dab your eyes before you look up at the ceiling disinterestedly, but she knows it's just so the tears will go back in.
It's a daunting realization for Wanda that you're touched-deprived. Despite the devastating life Wanda has lived, she's always has been a touchy person and received a lot of affections in her life—mostly by her parent, then Pietro, and occasionally, Natasha will indulge her in linking arms when they watch movies together.
Slowly, as if to let you know you can say no at any time, Wanda moves back with her arm and leg over you and pulls you closer.
You're pressed into her body, head on her shoulder as she strokes your back and pulls the blanket over the two of you in a warm cocoon.
Wanda thinks you appreciate that she doesn't say anything. She just sits there and resumes watching TV as you close your eyes.
Wanda replays every memory and every interaction she's had with you since befriending you. Your distance makes sense, and it's sad. It kind of breaks her heart.
It's been a while since Wanda has felt any sort of determination, but she wants her touch to be comforting to you. You're so lovely, and Wanda thinks she's falling for the girl who's given her shelter at the cost of depriving others of natural Vitamin D.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷
You think Wanda has been very attentive to you lately. Maybe something shifts, but you're not really sure. All you know is that Wanda is working her touch into your daily life. It's holding hands, it's long hugs, and cuddling you at the end of the day and in the mornings before you go.
But the moment things really changed? That was when Wanda pulled your arms to wrap around her, and the experience of holding Wanda Maximoff is vastly much different than being held by her.
You like it. You come to like both, and it isn't long that you find yourself biting your own tongue to stave the craving of wanting her touch.
Wanda watches you with interest as she lies on top of you as you play with the ends of her hair.
You seem rather frustrated for some unknown reason and also perplexed by your emotion.
When you let out a quiet huff, Wanda smiles.
"Is there something you need?" She asks.
You pause from tugging on her hair as you move your eyes down look at Wanda, who's lying on your chest.
You're antsy again.
You like her touch, that much you know. You like the weight of her body over yours because it feels reassuring.
"I don't know," you answer honestly.
Wanda adjusts herself so that her face hovers over yours and your eyes follow hers.
"More or less?" She asks.
It takes you a minute, but you answer a hesitant, "more, I think."
Wanda hums with a nod as her hands move under your back, and she holds you closer to her. "Let me show you and you can decide if you want more."
Wanda leans down, and when her soft lips press against yours, your nerve-endings light up with a jolt. She kisses you the way she has always shown you intimacy—slow and steady.
You press back, wrapping your arms around her neck without hesitation.
When Wanda pulls back, you mutter, "more. Definitely more."
You've gone so long without it; you've never really noticed. But Wanda makes you notice everything at every time. You're not sure how you could've missed it.
But perhaps this is how Wanda Maximoff loves. Slow, steady, rapacious as she stares at you.
Her eyes shine with devotion, and you like that her lips are warm too when she kisses you everywhere.
She's good at physical intimacy, that much you're sure of. Under her slow hands, you're determined that perhaps you can be the one to show her emotional intimacy for the girl you've fallen for.
A/N: This is my first angst so this won't be the greatest thing ever hehe.
Warnings: Angst
Summary: You question Wanda's trust in you because she doesn't want you to do your job as an agent. But it ends with two brocken hearts and one regretfull soul.
-------------------------------------------------
Vision new something was wrong with Wanda, with him, with everything ever since what he discovered at "work".
Now he's confronting her about it and she won't tell him anything. "What is outside Westview." Vision argued as the both of them hovered above the ground.
"You don't want to know, I promise you." Wanda said lowly. "You don't get to make that choice for me Wanda!" His voice boomed from the living room.
Wanda felt something inside of her, like she heard that sentence before, it gave her a sense of déjà vu. You. She remebered you, and the fight you had which costed your relationship and the trust you had for each other
---------
You and Wanda met after the Ultron war. Wanda took you out after a few weeks of meeting and it became official after a month.
You joined shield along side with Agent Hill and climbed the ranks together. Now that she was Second in Command you were her right hand woman.
The relationship between you and Wanda was given the title "Lovers of the Century." Because of how you two were like a match made in heaven.
The time you spent together was happy and always filled with happy memories. Though of course it wasn't constantly like that.
Who knew the the four years you spent together was just going to be thrown out the window because of a choice.
Being an Agent of Shield was dangerous and could cost a life but that's what you were told the very first day.
Even after that you still do it because you want to protect the people of the countrt and the people of the whole planet.
Now you haven't been to an actual mission in five months because of Wanda. She was preventing you from doibg your job, because she didn't want the risk of losing you.
You had explained to her why you need to go on missions so many times now. She promised wouldn't interfere with it anymore. Now you were finally going on one or so you thought.
"I'm sorry Agent Y/L/N, but you aren't allowed to go on this mission." An agent blocked your way from getting in the quintjet. "Not allowed? On who's orders?!"
"Director Fury." The agent stated. "But I already finalized it with him." You argued. "I'm sorry ma'am but the decision was made the last minute." With that the agent got on the jet.
You scoffed as you made you way to Nick's office. To you mad was an understatement, you were furious.
"Nick what the fuck was that." You brst through his office door with a pissed of face. "Why'd you pull me from the mission?"
"I'm sorry Y/N, but I had to." Fury looked at you. "Why?" Was the only words that escaped your mouth. "Wanda told me to pull you from the mission."
You looked at him shocked as he stood up from his chair. "Why'd you let her Nick." The anger now replaced with disappointment and betrayal.
"Because you know if I had said no she would've gotten in my head and done it herself." You just looked at the ground pinching the bridge of your nose, he was right and you hated that fact.
"I'll go talk to her." Sighing before leaving his office and walking towards the compound. You saw Wanda sitting on the couch, you sighed before approaching her.
She felt your presence from behind and smiled at you as she looked back, her smile quickly faltered when she saw your expression. "Hey detka what happened?" Concern evident in her voice as she took a hold of your hand.
"Nothing, just can we talk?.. Privately." You calmly asked looking at her with pleading eyes, she reluctantly nodded following you to your room since it was the closest.
She closed the door behind her as she looked at you expectingly. "Do you not trust me?" You asked Wanda's figure blending in the dark due to the lack of lighting in the room.
Wanda took a seat beside you kissing your knuckles. "Of course I do malyshka." She smiled, a smile that makes your heart flutter thousands of times and always will.
"Then why am I still here?" You frowned wanting to ignore that warm feeling. "I don't quite understand you detka." Her sokovian accent that made you knees weak every single time. You couldn't let it distract you. You had to do this.
"If you trust me then I shouldn't be here. I should be on a mission." "I have no-" "Don't lie to me Wanda...please" You pleaded. "I'm sorry Y/N." Was the only thing that she could say.
You moved your hand away from hers and she felt her hear break a little. "Why did you do it? Wanda why did you do it?" You took a shaky breath.
"I- well- it was a dangerous mission y/n you know that." Wanda stammered her words trying to reach for you once again but you took a step back.
You took a deep breath before speaking. "You think I don't? I have been doing this job for the majority of my life Wanda, I have been in far more dangerous missions than this." You tried to explain calmly to her.
You tried to never raise your voice at Wanda and she knew that, even how many fights you two have had, you never really did raise your voice at her.
"You promised me Wands, you promised this wouldn't happen again." Wanda could hear the falter in your voice. "I had to y/n. I couldn't risk it." Wandas voice fell into a whisper.
"I was trying to protect you so I made the choice not to." "You don't get to make that choice for me Wanda!" You shook your head.
"I'm never like this with you because I trust you and this is our job. But why can't you do the same for me? Why can't you trust me doing my job" Your vision getting cloudy.
Oh how she wanted to just hold you close and apologize but she couldn't. "I'm scared y/n, I can't lose you too." "I know that Wanda. You think I'm not also scared when you're gone?"
"Damn it I'm just trying to protect you y/n!" Wanda snapped at you standing up from the bed. "I don't need your pretection Wanda! I'm capable of defending myself, this is my job!" You argued back.
"Well what so you want me to do?!" She raised her voice getting impulsive. "I want you to trust me, that's all I wanted." You flinched at her tone but still trying to remain calm.
"I am trusting you y/n!" Her voice getting louder. "No you aren't! What you're doing is far from trust and you know that!"
"What you're doing is controlling me!" You continued. "I'm doing it for you! Why can't you just see that?!" Wanda shouted as her eyes to that dark shade of red, anger consuming her.
"You're doing it for yourself!" Turning away from her as let out a sigh of frustraion. "God why are you so stubborn!"
Scoffing as you looked at her. "I'm the stubborn one? I'm not the one who kicked my girlfriend off from missions for half a year!"
"Forget it it's pointless." You walked past her heading for the door. Wanda used her magic to not let you out the room. "You aren't getting out of this room, we have to talk."
"There is nothing to talk about anymore Wanda let me out." Sighing looking her straight in the eye.
"God damn it, I don't even know how and why I fell in love with you!" Wanda snapped as you felt your hear crumble and turn into dust.
"So you regret it." You swallowed dryly pushing back the tears. Wanda only noticed what she had said when you answered.
The anger and rage now turned into regret. "No- I didn't- Y/N I didn't mean that." She took a step forward while you took a step back.
"If you did you wouldn't have said it in the first place." Without thinking twice you tried twisting the knob but Wanda's magic wouldn't let you.
"Wanda let me out. Let me out right now!" You shouted as tears trailed down your cheeks. "Please baby hold on let me explain, I love you." Wanda pleaded her voice filled nothing but desperation.
"If you did then we wouldn't be here! I wouldn't be here! We wouldn't even have this conversation!" Your fight was so loud to the point where the other avengers could hear your argument.
"If you regret it so much, if you regret what we had-" "No Y/N I don't, please don't do this!" Wanda pleaded, she knew where this was going, she knew how this was going to end.
"Wanda I can't do this anymore. I love you so so much but if you can't respect the things I have to do for my job then I can't do this anymore."
"No no no please Y/N we can- we can work this out just please- let's talk about this." Wanda finally grabbed a hold of your hands finally. Her voice cracking as she pleaded for you to hold on.
"I'm sorry let's-" "No!"
She couldn't control herself anymore, she let herself go. Her powers and emotions got the best of her. Everything in the room were sent flying including you.
The next thing she knew Natasha was trying to get her focus away from you as Steve and Sam went over to your body. You had been sent flying from one end of the room to the other end.
Your head banging on the wall during all of it. Now you lay there unconscious, with blood dripping from your temple down. Wanda came into realization.
It was over and there's no going back to fix it. You two were over.
Summary: You jump out of a window for Wanda to catch you.
Warning: Cursing, explosions, and knives
Let me know if there's more
-------------------------------------------------
You and the team were sent on a mission to take down one of Hydra's large hide out. The Maximoff twins were also put in the mission despite only being an addition to the team for only a few weeks.
"You know you Steve, having to twins here wasn't such a bad idea." You talked through the earpiece as making your way to the center. "They'll be fine Y/N, you worry too much." Steve came down to you bodies of Hydra agents on the ground. "You worry too little."
You were one some of the people that welcomed them with open arms and a warm smile, even despite Ultron and Sokovia.
Steve went out to the halls stopping Hydra agents from getting to you as you hacked into their plans. "How sweet of you to tale them down for me Rogers." "Just get ut and get out Y/N." "Ok capsicle whatever you say." You rolled your eyes.
"Piet, Wans how you two holding up?" You asked as you put the flash drive in your left boob. "I'm doing good haven't decapitated anyone yet." Wanda said through coms and you widened your eyes.
"You know I'm 12 minutes older than you right, but you scare the living shit out of me sometimes." Pietro admitted. "Language."
As you walked down the hall you saw a giant buit hydra guy stomping his way towards you. "Hey Clint and Nat, how's the bombs doing." You began to walk backwards away from the large man.
"We got them done already thanks to the hella fast kid." "Ok good, Steve I thiught yoy got all of them but there's a big guy that looks like he wants to eat me alive."
"You aren't gonna go easy on me are you." You attempted to slide under him but he just grabbed you and slammed you against the wall.
"I guess that's a no then." You stuggled as he squeezed your neck draining the air out of your lungs. You retracted the claws from your gloves and began digging them into his arm setting you free and granting the air for your depraved lungs.
"Y/N you ok? Talk to me." Wandas voice filled with concern boomed through your earpiece as you wheezed for air. "Can't really talk since that mother forker almost squeezed me to death."
After being thrown around like a ragdoll you got up again and put your hands up even if your body screamed at you to stop. "I can do this all day big guy." You say as begins to charge at you again.
"That's my line." Steve said through the earpiece. "I know I know." You admitted as you charged at the large man knife in each hand.
"You really need to stop throwing me around dude." You twisted the knives in both of his shoulders. You took this chance to run. "This would be a really good time to blow the place."
"Is anyone on the east side of the building? Jesus this place has really long halls." You jumped swiftly through in front of a window.
"I am, where are you?" Wanda looked around not seeing you outside. "Great I'm gonna jump out the window, you're gonna have to catch me."
"What?! Are you out of your mind?! I can't Y/N." Wanda frantically said as she saw you several stories up. "Look, I know you're still not on oar with your powers yet but I trust you to catch me."
"Then trusting me is the stupidest thing thing you've done, I can't-" Wanda was cut off when she saw you jump out the window despite her protests.
"I take back about thingking of taking you out" She caught you with her powers but couldn't control it for long so she caught you with her arms instead.
She made a forcefield around the two of you as the place exploded and debris flying everywhere. She broke the forcefield arou d you two after the explosion and looked at you like you were crazy.
"Are fucking crazy! Why would you jumo out the window like that! You could've atleast counted to three before jumping jesus christ." She scolded but at the same time checked you for injuries.
"But you still caught me." You smiled at her making Wanda's heart melt. "Y/N? Are you alright?" Steve checked as the rest regrouped.
"Yeah I'm fine. Thanks to Wanda I get to live another day." Y/N joked like she wasn't thrown around like a ragdoll and then jumping out of a window.
"Don't do that again..please." Wanda mumbled the last bit, you wrapped your arms around her nape pulling her in an embrace.
Catching her off guard but wrapped her arms around you pulling you closer to her. "So you aren't planning on taking me out?" You pulled away from the embrace.
"I'll think about it." She said staying true to what she said earlier. "If you won't ask her out I'll gladly do so." Pietro walked to the two smirking.
She pulled you close to her playfully glaring at her twin. "How about next week, dinner?" She looked at you her a blush lightly painting her cheeks.
"I'll think about it." It was your turn to tease her, she mocked a hurt expression as you hit her lightly on the arm.
"Come one lesbians, you two can poubce on each other when we're home." Nat patted both your shoulders with a knowing smirk along her face.
"Nat oh my god." You faked a disgusting face as you walked to the quintjet with the twins behind you.
"We aren't there.. Yet" Wanda whispered to your ear as she walked passed you giving your butt a light squeeze which left you there in shock as you looked at Pietro.
"I didn't teach her that."

Wake up.
Murmuring softly, you turn your body in bed.
"Baby, wake up, we're going to be late." You hear the whisper, but all you do is bury your face deeper into the pillow, muttering under your breath. "Come on baby, it's your brother's birthday."
"Five minutes." You ask, your voice muffled against the mattress. Your wife laughs, her hand reaching your waist and her fingers running up your back.
You smile when you feel the caress, even if you are asleep, your body responds to touches with light shivers. And she knows it.
"Wake up babe." She asks again, this time moving closer to place several kisses against your face, but you don't give in. When her hands go down to your waist, and she starts tickling you, you laugh trying to block her hands.
You move you around the bed quickly, standing on top and sitting on her belly, your hands pin her wrists to both sides of her head.
Wanda smiles with her cheeks reddened.
"That wasn't fair." You warn with false annoyance, and your wife just stares at you with bright eyes, briefly resisting the position before relaxing completely.
"But it woke you up." She teases, making you roll your eyes in amusement.
"Actually I'm still sleeping." You joke with a mischievous smile, approaching your face and noticing her holding her breath in anticipation. You dodge your way to kiss her cheek, and Wanda grumbles under her breath. Your kisses run down her jaw, too chaste and fast in her opinion. When you kiss the skin of her collarbone, she sighs and you smile, pulling away to look at her. "Sorry, weren't you the one who said we were going to be late?" You tease and Wanda giggles before lifting her face towards your, pressing your lips together.
You smile against her lips, there was no point in resisting it.
You two share a soft kiss, and you melt. She takes advantage of the loosened grip on her wrists to get on top in a quick move, fitting against your legs and you sigh in surprise at the sudden movement, but you don't have time to react because she's kissing you again, with greater intensity this time.
When your body starts to heat up, Wanda's mouth on your neck, you try to push the wave of lust and mutter between your unbalanced breathing "Wanda, the kids..." in a warning tone, but Wanda smiles against your skin , her face rising to the level of your ear.
"We better be quiet then." Her hot, wet whisper makes your body shiver and you sigh, surrendering.
But suddenly you hesitate.
Something is wrong.
Wanda knows exactly where to touch you. As if you've already done this a thousand times, and she knew it by heart. Something in the back of your mind is screaming wondering how could she know that if you only did it once? There’s a ghost of a memory. A flash of giggles and experimental touches, a shy Wanda learning where to touch, asking between her breath where would you like her to kiss, how she was your first.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.”
But the memory and the hesitation vanishes the next second, and you're getting lost in her lips and her touch, soft moans escaping your mouth as you push the doubt away.
When you two reach your highness, you against her fingertips and her against your tight, she whimper your name against your ear, your hands entwined on hers in the sheets.
And as you two try to normalize your breathing, you hear noises in the kitchen, and you exchange giggles.
"Someone else is awake." She mumbles against your cheek, moving her face away next. She kisses your mouth before pulling away completely. "I'll make us breakfast. Don't go back to sleep."
You just chuckle softly, missing her warmth as you stay in bed.
When Wanda leaves the room, you sigh before sitting up in bed, stretching.
Your gaze wanders around the room.
Home.
There are pictures on the walls, and on the shelves. Photographs of a lifetime. A shiver runs through your body. You sigh lightly, pushing away the discomfort. It's just the cold. Sokovia is cold in the fall.
You walk out of the room with lazy steps, and when you reach the kitchen, someone is jumping on you.
“Good morning, mommy!” Greets the little four-year-old boy, smiling, two teeth missing in the front. You smile as you pick him up.
"Good morning, Billy." You say as you carry him towards the table. Wanda looks at you from the counter, gives you a wink before turning her attention back to the pancakes she has started to make. "Did you sleep well, sweetheart?"
"Yes, I dreamed about Tommy. We were astronauts!" He tells with a smile, making you let out an understatement noise as you sit down. You pull away only to kiss the other child sitting at the table on the cheek, who smiles before turning back to the video game.
"Tommy, what did I say about games at the table?" You say in a warning tone, and the boy sighs before turning off the phone.
"Sorry, Mom." He asks while putting it away. You mess his hair before walking to the kitchen counter.
When you turn around however, you stop. You can see, through the kitchen door, a man sitting on the porch with his back to you.
"What is the problem, sweetheart?" Wanda asks and you look at her before looking back at the door.
"There's someone out there."
"Maybe it's the milkman, he's late." She says casually, serving the pancakes on a plate.
You feel weird. There is a little pressure behind your eyes. You look at your family for a second.
"I'll be right back." You let them know before walking to the door. When you touch the doorknob, Wanda's hand is on your forearm, and you blink in surprise. How did she move so fast?
"I'm just going outside, sweetheart." You say with a smile. There's something in Wanda's eyes that makes you consider not leaving. She doesn't smile back.
"You're not coming back, are you?" she asks and you frown, watching the tears form in her eyes.
"What?"
But the moment ends at the same speed as it begins. She gives a short laugh, wiping away her tears and the same soft energy comes back to her.
"Bring the milk and the newspaper please, love." She says before moving away, going back to the counter and grabbing the pancakes. She sits down at the table and serves the children next, as if nothing has happened.
You blink in confusion and look at them one last time before opening the door and walking out.
The man doesn't turn around and you clear your throat.
"Sorry, can I help with something?"
The man turns his face to you. You never met him.
"Good morning, Y/N." He says politely. "Quite a place you set up here."
“Sorry?”
“I admit I expected Vormir, but this is good too.”
You frown in confusion, but then cross your arms.
"Look, sir, I think it is best if you leave."
He turns his head front, looking at the landscape. You're ready to tell him to leave again when he gets up, and you take a defensive step back.
"Would you like to take a walk with me?" He asks as he looks at you again.
"I don't know you. And I think you should go."
"Can you take a walk?" He asks with a mixture of curiosity and impressionism. "How far are you able to go?"
"Please, sir, leave."
"Honey?" Wanda asks from the door, and you startle, turning to look at her. "Who are you talking to?"
You notice her confused and curious look as she looks around. You frown.
“I’m…”
“She won't talk to me, miss." The man calmly warns. “But I admit that even this is almost completely faithful.”
"What?"
"Almost." He comments with a smile. "If I'm not mistaken, Miss Maximoff has brown hair."
Only now do you become aware of the fact that Wanda at the door has long red hair.
Wake up. Wake up.
You sigh lightly, lifting your hands to your wife's shoulders.
"Honey, come back inside, alright?" You ask without understanding because you feel despair growing in your chest. "I'll be going for a walk"
"Don't be long, or we'll be late for your brother's party." She says tenderly. "You know your dad hates it when you're late for things."
Wanda kisses your cheek before stepping back inside.
Something is wrong, but you don't know what it is.
"You're coming with me, then?" The man asks as soon as you turn to him again.
"Who are you? What do you want here?" you ask impatiently and frightened.
"I came for you, of course." He clarifies. "And my name is Yao."
“Well, mister Yao.” You starts. “I’m not going anywhere with you because I don’t know you and I think you should leave my property.”
"Oh yes, we haven't met yet." He comments thoughtfully. “But don’t worry, we will soon enough.”
"Please leave."
“Don’t worry, we got time.” He says as he turns his back to you again, leaving the porch and stepping in the grass. “Let’s start with the beginning.”
He's walking away, and you want to go back inside, but something is begging you to follow him, so that's what you do.
Yao takes a deep breath before speaking again, his gaze on the landscape.
"You were very hard to find, miss." He counts. "I was about to give up."
"Why were you looking for me?"
"Because of what you did before you disappeared." He responds by looking at you for a moment before he stops walking. You fold your arms and stare at the landscape too. Kilometers and kilometers of plantations and mountains. A funny thought occurs to you and you giggle, which catches the eye of man, who raises his eyebrow in curiosity.
You roll your eyes slightly.
"It's just that I thought something ironic." You comment and he turns to face you. "Wanda said we are going to visit my brother, but there is no road. I just thought it would be difficult to drive on the grass."
Yao has a small smile at the corner of his lips, and you swallow hard, realizing that this really was weird.
And then you look around.
Your home is a cabin in the middle of the mountains. No road, no car, no nearby civilization. With nothing visible but grass and rocks. Even if you try to squint your eyes, everything gets a little blurry further away. The shivers you felt earlier were back.
"Where am I?" You ask confused. Yao turns the body towards you.
"I need you to stay calm."
"No, I'm serious." You counter starting to despair. "Where am I? Why there’s no road? Or Car? How are we leaving without a car?”
"Please miss.”
Then you understand.
“I’m not going anywhere am I?”
Yao sighs, and shakes his head in denial. You step back.
"You never do." He counts. "I think the limit is the front-yard."
"What the hell are you talking about?" You rage with tears in your eyes. "Where am I?"
"Well this is more complicated." He retorts seriously, but his eyes are tender. "Your physical body is on a stretcher in the Infirmary of Avengers's Compound, in New York City, in the year of 2015."
"I-I'm..."
Yao steps forward, raising his hands to your chest height as if trying to calm you down.
"But your spirit form, what you are right now, is in between." He says it as if the words make any sense to you.
"I don't…I don't understand."
"It will be easier if you remember how you got here." Yao says with a pleading expression. You shake your head slightly. "Try. Try to think where you were before you woke up this morning."
You look at him in confusion.
Suddenly, you remember.
Your conscience stumbling in nothingness, trying to grab onto something. You thought someone was calling you, that you should come back. But come back to where?
Home. You thought. Home was where you should be. Home was where the soft female whisper was telling you to go.
And so everything was forming around you and when your knees gave up, you felt in a bed.
You gasped in surprise, starting to freak out.
"Where... Where am I?" You whimpered looking around. None of this makes sense. "I just…I just remember this... emptiness. I was so sad. Sad and weak."
"Why were you sad?"
"I..." You tried. Yao waited anxiously and you gasped. "Pietro died."
You put your hand on your chest, trying to normalize your breathing as all your memories came back at once. Yao just looked at you.
“He died!” You cried. “He died in my arms. I… tried to save him. I did. What happened to him? Please, sir, tell me I saved him.”
You begged between sobs, Yao sighed.
"You did." His words brought an immediate rush of relief, but he didn't look happy. "That's why I'm here."
You took a deep breath, trying to stop crying and waiting for Yao to explain.
"Bringing someone back to life causes instability in the timeline." He says turning to you. "And it's my job to protect and ensure that doesn't happen."
"Are you here to punish me then?" You ask unsure. "I'll pay what you need, just let Pietro live."
Yao raises his eyebrow, impressed.
“I’m not.” He says. "I'm here to study you actually."
"Study me... what?" You ask confused.
"The variant you created in the timeline disappeared the next minute after it appeared." He says next. "I went to the Avengers right away when I noticed the change, but by the time I got there, there was nothing else to fix. Pietro was alive, and you were in a coma. And the timeline is intact."
"Am I in a coma?" You ask in surprise but Yao ignores you and continues talking.
"Pietro Maximoff was meant to die in the battle of Sokovia, for you later to die in Wakanda." He counts and you look at him with wide eyes in confusion and indignation. "All for Wanda Maximoff to become the scarlet witch."
You stare at Yao for a moment before letting out a humorless laugh, wiping away your tears.
"Are you for real, right now?"
"I am." He insists. "My job is to maintain the stability of our reality's timeline. And Wanda's destiny is..."
"Lose her brother?" You interrupt with indignation. "Or even lose me? What the hell are you talking about?"
The man sighs deeply and crosses his arms.
"Miss Maximoff reaches the fullest of her powers with your death." He continues seriously and you sigh in disbelief. "She becomes able to manipulate chaos magic and alter reality to build a life with you..."
You shake your head, turning away as you massage your temples with your fingers.
"You're fucking with me, is that it?" You accuse angrily. "None of this makes any sense. Telling me Wanda is destined to lose the people she loves to become a witch? Where did that come from? Why don't you tell me where I am?"
"I already told you, you're in between." He repeats and you're ready to interrupt angrily, but he continues quickly. "The celestial dimension of nothingness, Miss Y/N."
You frown and he looks around before continuing.
"I thought you would be in Vormir." Yao continues. "The realm of death at the center of celestial existence, that is. But no. I also looked for you in Valhalla, with no success."
"I died." You whisper in shock, looking away at the floor. Yao sighs lightly.
"You should have, but no."
You raise your eyebrows and look at him quickly.
"I beg your pardon?"
"In my universe, you die." He says. "You die when the mad titan, Thanos, attacks Wakanda. And Wanda Maximoff witnessed."
"This is ridiculous."
Yao shakes his head slightly.
"You die saving sergeant James Barnes from a fatal blow." He continues. "Which is useless by the way, since the titan snaps his fingers and James is one of the people who disappears."
All you can do is stare at Yao like he's insane, and seeing your expression, he takes a deep breath and goes back to talking.
"Wait, what?" You interrupt when you see the worry in the old man's eyes. "Wanda, is she...?"
"Destroying worlds in blind rage?" He completes making you gasp in surprise, but Yao doesn't look angry, just tired. "All she knows is pain, Miss Y/L/N. So pain is all she causes."
"That’s not Wanda. She 's not cruel." You retort. "She's sweet and funny and good."
"She used to be like that, I'm sure." He tenderly nods. "But that person no longer exists. Some of that kindness has gone with her brother, and the rest has been buried with you."
You swallowed hard, falling silent and trying to imagine a Wanda who lost Pietro. Who lost you.
"I don't believe you." You declare then, ignoring the tears in your eyes. "She wouldn't."
Yao just nods at something behind you. You frown as you follow his gaze, noticing that your kids are playing on the porch, oblivious to the conversation you're having.
"I don't understand." You tell Yao. "My children..."
"Yours?"
And then you understand. And you let's a short incredulously laugh.
"They’re her children." You say. "Please don't say she lost them too."
"She lost everything."
"Why?" You plead but Yao just shrugs slightly, looking just as upset as you do.
"Life isn't fair, for any of us."
"This is absurd." You retort indignantly. "And how do you know all this? Why didn't you stop it?"
"We can't change our destinies, Miss Y/N..."
"Bullshit!" You interrupt, annoyed. "Think I'm going to watch Wanda lose everyone? I may have no idea where I am, but rest assured I'll do my best to make sure she's never alone like this, ever!"
Yao looks at you impressed.
"I knew you were different."
"Oh, I'm sorry, did I pass some sick moral test?" You retort mockingly and Yao gives a short laugh.
"In a way, yes." He says. "I've been pretty busy the last few months, you know, a war between realities caused by the disproportionate use of chaos magic in my world. And only your universe wasn't in dimensional warfare."
You looked at him in confusion, but Yao continued to talk as if all those strange words made a lot of sense to you.
"Miss Maximoff will not cooperate with me, we will face each other and I will die." He declares with a certain nostalgia and you widen your eyes. "But that doesn't have to be the fate of all universes."
"I'm really not following."
"You're a life keeper." He tells you. "Or should I say, a guardian of Life?"
"Am I what now?"
"A being capable of forging, creating, giving and even taking life as they please."
You look at him stunned, shocked about his confession. Yao chuckles lightly, waving to the land with his hands.
"Don't you see it?" He asked. "You made this. You made here."
"But how?" You wonder, ignoring the way your eyes were tearing.
"You unlock a great potential of your magic after emotional distress." He answered. "Which is highly unrecommended, I must tell."
"No, sir." You correct yourself. "I meant, how did I do all this? Why, even? Is this supposed to be a heaven or something?"
"Well, that I'm not exactly sure." He says as he assumes a thoughtful posture. "You see, you push your magic far from the limit back there. Giving life to Pietro again cost your own, but since you cannot die, your consciousness just moved away."
"I beg your pardon?" You interrupt with shock. "What do you mean I cannot die?"
"Oh, yes." He says with a smile. "It’s because of the nature of your powers, miss. Guardians of Life cannot die because they are life itself, forming in eternity. It’s pure order magic."
"Okay, this is too much." You say as you move to sit down on the porch.
Yao signs and takes a seat next to you.
"I know it is." He says. "I remember when I learned all about magic and the universe and the infinite. I thought none of it was real or made any sense."
You just give a short laugh, moving your hands to your hair in a nervous tic.
As you try to calm your thoughts, Yao waits. You two are silent for several minutes before he speaks again.
"I came here for you." He says. "And I assure I have the best of intentions.”
You frown in disbelief as you look up to him.
“I don’t trust you, sir.” You say. “But I get a feeling you have things to tell me, so please, be my guest.”
Yao smiles before he continues.
“After what you did there, I needed to be sure you weren't someone trying to destroy the equilibrium of the universe. And turns out that you're not. It turns out you're one of the people meant to save it."
"I'm not following it…"
"The guardians of life? It is written that they are the ones destined to fulfill the emptiness with life." He explains. "They are not meant to end wars or start them, like most of the other prophecies. No. They bring life to the places that were either gone, or were never born yet."
"That 's insanity."
"Yes, it is." Yao agrees with a smile. "Just like bringing your dead friend back to life with a gold wave of healing energy."
You grumble softly, burying your face in your hands for a moment.
"But your destiny starts before that." He continues. "Before this greatness, your existence is enough to prevent the worst." He smiles as he takes a pause. “You’re the only thing keeping the Scarlet Witch from destroying the multiverse.”
You look at him in surprise, but he just continues to explain.
“Your powers will develop to the point where you become a being capable of manipulating order magic. That is, the opposite of Wanda's magic. Some say that while one brings death and destruction, the other brings life and prosperity." He tells you. "That’s why you're the only one who can stand up to her.”
"I wouldn't."
He blinks in surprise.
"Don't say what you don't know."
"I mean it." You insist. "I wouldn't fight Wanda."
"You've already fought her, miss." He says and you move back. "You just don't know that yet."
"You are lying."
Yao looks at you for a moment shaking his head slightly.
"There's no point in arguing about it now, you're just a girl."
"Don't patronize me!"
He gives a short smile.
"I'm not." He says. "You just aren't yet."
"What does that mean?"
He checks his watch, sighing.
"There is no time." He says. "If you don't go back, Wanda becomes the scarlet witch through grief and pain. Even with Pietro, she creates the hex through chaos magic. You need to go back. You need to stop her from causing this imbalance in reality and stopping the universe from falling into ruin."
"I don't believe you, Yao." You retort. "She is not evil.”
"I came here to help you, because I know you don’t want this for her too." He insisted. "You're a variant of the multiverse. You die in millions of them, but the one you survive in is the only one where Wanda doesn't become a villain. So I need you to come back."
"Back where?"
"Your body." He says. "Your mind. And more importantly, get back to her.”
You blink in confusion, and look back.
"Wanda is already here."
Yao swallows hard, and shakes his head slightly.
"This is a fantasy, Miss Y/L/N." He says. You cross your arms, standing up and moving away for him. He sighs as he stands too. "Honestly, the stubbornness of seeing the truth is something you two seem to share."
"I died, mister." You retort. "I saved Pietro, and now I'm dead. I'm at peace here."
"You are not dead." He counters. "Can't you see it? Can't you hear her crying beside your bed?"
Your mind is a mess. You tighten your fingers around your forehead with your eyes closed before sighing.
"None of this makes sense. All this stuff about universes and reality, and Wanda being a villain. I need you to leave. I need silence!”
Everything went quiet. You open your eyes to see that not only the wind noise, but every sound was gone. You gasp, but Yao just stands there while looking around impressed.
“How…?”
You start out in a sigh, also moving to look around. Nothing has changed in the landscape, but there is no sound. You look at Yao with despair.
"Impressive skill set I must say." He says. "But I've never seen anyone use order magic for personal use before."
"Order...what?"
Yao checks his watch on his wrist before speaking.
"I'm running out of time Y/N, forgive me." He says. "I need you to make your choice soon."
"I don't know what I'm choosing."
"It's very simple actually." He starts with a tender smile. ‘
"You go back to your body and fulfill your destiny. Or continue in this celestial lie for the next what, five years? Until Wanda creates the hex in your world and becomes the scarlet witch. When she does, she will use the darkhold. And she won't be happy to find you resting while she was alone."
You frown.
"Is there any version of me that stayed?"
"Yes." He replied simply.
"And Wanda?"
"She never forgave you for leaving her behind"
You swallowed the urge to cry.
"Is there a reality where we are enemies?" You force yourself to ask and Yao can see the pain in your eyes so he just nods in agreement. You let a few tears flow, but quickly wipe them away. "What do I have to do to avoid it?"
"Love her."
You let out an ironic laugh.
"I already do." You say. "Or did the heaven I build with her give you a different impression?”
Your joke makes him laugh.
“Okay, smarty pants.” Yao retorts and you manage a short giggle beyond the tears. “I need you to make a choice now, i can stay here for any longer.”
You take a pause, sighing softly. Where you are is really beautiful. The landscape looks like a living dream.
“Can I say goodbye to them?” You ask as you look back to your house. Yao checks his watch again before nodding to you as he puts his hands on his pockets.
You gave him a weak smile before turning towards the porch again, walking home.
Billy and Tommy look away from their toys to you as soon as you reach them. You realize how strange that was. You had no memory of a life with them, but you knew they were yours, that they were your family, your baby boys. Everything was a bit numb in your brain, like a distance dream you couldn't really focus on.
“Mommy, are we leaving for uncle’s house now?” Tommy asked as you bent down to mess his hair. You smile at him.
“Yes, sweetheart.” You told. “I’m just gonna talk to mommy first, okay?”
“Alright, mommy.” He agreed as he turned his attention back to the wood horse he was playing with. You took one last look at him and Billy before going back inside.
You hold your breath as you see Wanda, moving around as she is looking for the things you two were supposed to take for the party.
“Honey, I’ll be outside in a minute.” She warns as she looks around. “I just gotta find our keys.”
You bite your lip to avoid saying that there’s no car. You don’t mean to scare her. So you just lay against the wall as you cross your arms.
You realize that you know she will find the key in the last kitchen cabinet drawer, but when you leave the house, you’re back in bed. You wonder how many times you revived this.
“Wanda?” You call her with hesitation, and she stops moving around to look at you with a worried expression due to the cracking in your voice.
You just look at her. Memorizing her image. Soft eyes, mature expression. She’s different from the Wanda you know. She’s older, maybe a couple of years, you can tell for the soft marks on her face. The hair is different too as you noted before. Red is a good choice for her.
“I love you.” You whisper with a sad smile. Wanda frowns as she comes closer, and you sigh when she touches the sides of your face with both of her hands.
“Darling, I love you too.” She confessed. “But what’s wrong?”
You wonder how much of this is real. If this world, this fantasy, will fade away once you leave. Or if whatever this is, will always be a prison for them. Both options seem unfair.
“It’s nothing, my love.” You lie as you place your hands on hers, your thumbs caressing her skin as you look at her beautiful emerald eyes, shining with confusion.
You remember Yao’s words. About fighting her.
“You know I would never hurt you, right, Wanda?” You say and she gives you a shy smile.
“I do.”
“Would you ever hurt me?”
“I already have.” She answers with a guilty smile and you frown slightly.
“If you mean Sokovia, I’ve forgiven you for…”
“No.” She interrupts as she swallows hard, her gaze moving away. “I kept you here.”
You frown in confusion. Wanda waits until you realize what she's saying. When you do, you take her hands off your face.
“You are her.” You whisper, putting the pieces together. Wanda takes a deep breath. You move away to the kitchen, looking back to the door for a second, seeing tha Yao is checking his watch. “But how?”
“I lost you once.” She says but she doesn't take a step further. “I couldn’t lose you again.”
“Am I not real?”
“Of course you are!” Wanda exclaims almost desperately. "You are the only real thing I have here. I…I couldn't bring you back. It didn't work because of your magic. So I had to look for you in another reality."
You run your hands over your face for a moment.
"Why this version of me?" You ask.
"Because you saved my brother." She responds with a sigh. "When you did that, I used the timeline variant to keep you to myself."
You widen your eyes.
"How long?"
"Not enough."
You give a short laugh, which turns into a sob halfway through, and you notice that Wanda also has tears in her eyes.
"What happened to you, my love?" You ask. "My Wanda doesn't hurt or kidnap people."
"Maybe you don't know her well enough." She snaps and you bite the inside of your cheek, letting the tears flow. She sighs, crossing her arms. "How did you wake up?"
"A traveler." You answered. "He's out there, can't you see him?"
She looks at the door immediately with a frown and then back to you.
"No." She says. "He must be projecting his aura through his physical body."
"How are you doing this, dear?" You ask. "He told me I'm in New York."
Wanda sighs, leaning forward to lean on the counter beside her.
"I looked for you in the time-space of the multiverse." She explains. "I found your consciousness wandering in the void. Our magic did the rest."
"This is insane." You mumble. "I remember the emptiness. I don't remember seeing you before waking up."
"I'm always with you." She declares and then gives a humorless laugh. "Or I used to be."
"The traveler told me I made this place."
"You did." She clarifies. "With my help. As soon as my magic came into contact with yours everything got mixed up. This place appeared, my boys were back, you were back. I couldn’t let go."
"Yao said your world is at war." You continue, Wanda tenses but then sighs.
"It is."
"And you are causing it."
"I am."
"Why?"
Wanda looks at you with a sad smile.
"I'm tired of losing everything."
You stare at her for a moment before looking back into the room.
"Are you going to let me leave?"
"I can't keep you."
You reach for her hand on the counter, interlacing your hands together and placing them on her thigh as you turn your face to face her.
"I'm sorry my love." You whisper and watch the thick tears run down her face. "I feel like there's nothing I can say to stop you from fighting."
She shakes her head slightly.
"This is who I am now." She whispers back. "You can only help your Wanda."
You sigh, resting your forehead against hers.
"There is no version of me that would hate you, Wanda. I will always forgive you, and understand you." You say. "And most importantly, I will always love you."
Wanda sobs, breaking the distance.
She tastes different. It's almost imperceptible, but now that you've got your memories back, you know.
You break the kiss, using your free hand to wipe the tears from her face.
"Goodbye, Wanda."
"Don't leave her side." She asked last, her hand squeezing yours before letting go.
You smile and turn to leave.
As you walk outside, the environment starts to blur around you, like a ghostly glow. You imagine it's your magic separating from hers.
When you step outside, you are in emptiness again. Everything is white around you, and Yao is waiting with his arms crossed.
"Are you ready to wake up?" he asks, looking nervous.
"Yeah." You say. "You'll be okay?"
He hesitates with a nervous laugh. "No, Miss Y/L/N. She's almost reaching me. This will be our last fight."
You swallowed dry. The Wanda of his world was no longer just Wanda. She was the scarlet witch now. Again having lost her family and searching for her revenge.
You then realize that if Yao is dying, someone is going to have to face this Wanda.
"It's going to be me, isn't it?" You ask, feeling an overwhelming urge to cry. "That's why you set me free. You don't beat her. And she won't stop. So you found someone who could."
He looked at his watch again.
"Maybe" He says. "Or maybe your Wanda will fight her. Or maybe the little conversation in the kitchen will be enough to make her stop."
You sigh.
“It won’t.” You say. "Just…take me back please."
He smiles.
"It was a pleasure meeting you, friend."
“Likewise, Yao.”
When it becomes difficult to keep your eyes open again, you surrender to darkness.
But it's alright. Because there is warmness in your chest. There is someone sleeping on top of you. The smell of shampoo is familiar. You don't need to open your eyes to know that Wanda fell asleep while waiting for you to wake up.
Before waking up, before hugging her and before assuring her and all the avengers that you were okay and that they had nothing to worry about, you said goodbye to the memories you had with Yao and Wanda from the other reality, realizing that they were disappearing as you returned to your body.
You didn't need those memories. You don't need to know the future, because loving Wanda will be enough.
