Fire and smoke
◇ TF2 Pyro x reader [romantic]
Explosions was heard in the distance, as you stood next to the sapped sentry and dispenser, that was healing you. Engineer was still respawning so all you could do is to wait for him. You had your back against the wall, looking left and right, paranoid knowing that somewhere BLU Spy was hiding, ready to finish the job. You noticed injured Demoman, he run up to dispenser, standing next to you.
"Ay there. Why aye Ya hidn'?"
"There is a Spy here Demo. We need to be on high alert"
"That coward won't hide forever! We'll find him we- look out!"
You turned you back, but you saw nothing more than blank wall. This is when someone kicked you in your back, and pinned you down with his boot. It was Demoman. Or was it? Soon smoke fall and he turned into BLU Spy.
"Fooled again." Said Spy proudly, fixing his tie.
You tried to stand but this is when you heard him taking his knife out.
"Adieu!"
On those words you were ready to feel cold knife in your back. But when you looked up you noticed that Spy, was in flames.
"Fire, fire, fire!" Spy shouted.
It was Pyro, he shoot Spy with his falre gun, and they started to chase him with their axe, finnaly chopping him on half. They walked up to you, helping you stand up.
"Pyro! It's good to see you" you said holding gently their hand.
Pyro happy giggled and pat your head. This is when Engineer run up to both of you.
"Is everything alright?-"
Pyro stand in front of you, holding his flamethrower, ready, to burn another enemy for you.
"Wow! Buddy it's me! Here, let me prove that" Engineer put his toolbox down and punched it with his wrench, this is when small box started to transform into level one sentry. Seeing this Pyro lowered down their weapon and sat next to you. You noticed how they took your hand, gently holding it.
"Hey I'm alright. You did it!"
Pyro turned their head at you. They started to use sign language, communicating with you.
"I didn't want to see you get hurt"
You smiled softly and spoke to them.
"And i didn't get hurt, thanks to you. I'm fine now. You can go to the front lines if you want-"
But on those words Pyro muffed and shook their head. They gave you big tight hug, refusing to let you go.
"Pyro come on. I'm fine, really" you assured them. They pat your head and muffled.
"Mm mhmm mhhmmhm muh"
Even if Pyro's mask was muffling their voice you could heard them say:
"I just care about you"
You smiled and warped your hands aroud their torso giggling.
"I care about you too"
This match was a taught one. Unfortunately today none of the team won. Everyone came back to base frustrated and disappointed.
"It I had my übercharge ready!!-" shouted Medic, throwing his coat on chair.
"Medic did his best, don't beat up yourself Doctor" Heavy spoke, trying to cheer his Doctor up.
Rest of the team sat around the table exhausted, and started to point out their mistakes, screaming about "what if" scenarios. But not you. You knew you did your best, and so did Pyro that walked into the room with you. You both started at each other.
"They all are angry again..." you said.
You heard small mumbles from behind Pyro's mask before he took your hand and you both went into their room. You sat with him on the ground, this is when they give you their crayons and started to draw on paper.
"Huh? What are you doing?" You asked. This is when Pyro showed you his drawing. It was Scout and next to his were stars and Pyro's handwritten texst "you did great!"
"Oh i get you! You want to cheer everyone up with drawings?" You asked. Pyro happly noded.
"Well then let's get started!"
Both of you took crayons and started to draw. After one hour, you and Pyro finished your drawings. You manage to get small gifts for everyone too. Soo both of you stared to walk up to the mercs and give them gifts.
Scout felt better right away, especial after seeing how Pyro drew his muscles bigger
"Looks just like me!" he said.
Heavy smiled and thanked both of you. Medic felt a bit better, and he pinned your drawing on his fridge. Spy room was locked so you gave it to him by slipping the drawing nder the door, maybe he liked it. Sniper just thanked, but you saw him smiling. Solider and Demoman were happy and they felt better right away. Last one was Engineer. After receiving such kind gift from you, he put it on his pin board.
"Thank you kindly partners"
You gave him thumbs up and Pyro giggled. Soon both of you walked away. This is when Pyro stopped you.
"Hm? What's wrong?" You asked. They gave you small letter. You opened it to see drawing of you and Pyro with lot of hearts and stars around. This one was more detailed, looks like they spend the most time on it.
"You are my star! You did great!" Pyro said in sign language.
You smiled and hugged them, laying you head on their chest, listen to their heartbeat. It was so sweet of them! Pyro hugged you back. Even after failed match beeing with them, was enough to make you feel better.
Stars shined bright on the sky. You were sitting outside and watched, how clouds moved with the wind. Pyro was sitting next to you, playing with their lighter. You started to shiver from cold, and you clinged closer to them.
"Sorry, I'm just a bit cold" you said.
Pyro looked at you for a second before standing up and picking wooden box. They took out their axe and smashed it into pieces. Confused you watched as they started to put wood on one pile in front of you, soon they set it quickly on fire. They sat next to it and waved their hand at you to get closer, as you walked up to them. Pyro catched your hand and pulled you on their lap, giving you big bear hug. You blushed as they gently hold you close, to keep you warmth.
"Mh mhmm mm"
"I love you too..." you said looking up at the stars.
Both of you gazed at the night sky, knowing this night was perfect because you two had each other and it was enough to make you feel safe and happy.

Merc aux access
(here are some of my headcanons for what the mercs music tastes could be, probably very inaccurate with the time period they live in)
Scout: has no aux access. Is very PROHIBITED TO BLASTING HIS “shitty white boy music” as others call it. It is not. It is art, TOM JONES IS ART. He has an okay music taste it’s just that it’s all about love n shit and that gets the mercs depressed. A bit of pop but surprisingly (or not) mostly hip hop.
Engie: also has no aux access despite being the one to modify and improve the music player in the base. Would play an overbearing amount of country. At first it was fun but then the country blues came and everyone got depressed again. Will still play country by himself with his guitar tho, if given the chance will do a little performance, then it kindda turns intoo it’s own orchestra since a lot of the boys know how to play instruments, it’s a great time for everyone. Johnny Cash is his god and Dolly is his queen.
Soldier: plays anything American per usual. Despite blasting the anthem one too many times is still allowed to choose music because he can pick some good songs from “Huey Lewis and the News” or “Earth, Wind & Fire”
Medic: absolute maniac, the most unpredictable out of all of em (and that says a lot in a team that has Pyro). Will sometimes go the whole evening having peacefully classical music to help everyone “focus” but then will start blasting heavy metal laughing maniacally. Is the true definition of “I like every genre”
(They are too afraid to take the aux away from him)
Demo: self explanatory, likes anything with accordions and bagpipes. But does genuinely enjoy orchestra music or any songs with strong buildups to big climaxes. Sits there on the edge of his seat waiting for the transition between Beethoven's 5th the 3rd and the to the 4th movement even tho he’s listens to it a million times. Still makes him tear up.
Sniper: not much of a music enthusiast since he’s mostly alone in a very quiet place mumbling to himself all the time, but surprising enjoys jazz when given the opportunity. It’s the only time he really looks like he’s enjoying himself, tapping away, so no one dares to disturb him those moments.
Spy: 60’s French jazz, can probably name 10 artists on top of his head. Says it’s for “culture” and “mission reserch”. Is just a huge nerd for that genre but will never admit it. Yes, Sniper comes to listen and they sit there statically, but don’t let that device you on the inside they are overjoyed.
Heavy: will play classical Russian ball music or even songs from old cartoons and sing along with them not messing up a single lyric. Gets very emotional, knows how to slow dance a bit but is too insecure to try. Engie offered to guide him, tho says Spy would be better since he knows how but Heavy refuses knowing how harsh Spy can be, he can’t handle that much. He don’t wanna look like little baby. Hopes to show Medic his skills when he’s confident enough tho.
Pyro: anything that is upbeat (that can come with repercussions since they have trouble understanding speech so mostly don’t care for the lyrics and we all know that happy sounding doesn’t always have the same meaning lyrically). Also tracks that have clear instrument sounds. Likes to pretend play one of them and can match the beat very easily if they want to tap it out on the table.
