Day 22

LifesaversšŸ™ŒšŸ™Œ

Being a dropper I can tell you, you will thank yourself a week before exam for making formula-sheets.

No matter how much we study, stress levels are on the peak at that time... I felt like crying 10-12 times in one day when NEET 2020 was approaching.

Be prepared šŸ™ŒšŸ™Œ

romanticize studying šŸ“–šŸŖ½

Romanticize Studying šŸ“–šŸŖ½
Romanticize Studying šŸ“–šŸŖ½
Romanticize Studying šŸ“–šŸŖ½

• create a cozy study environment for yourself, no specific type of aesthetic setting but whatever makes you feel comfortable and motivated. It could be your room full of candles, a cute cafe, a garden, whatever works for you the best.

• find a playlist that motivates you and clears your mind during your study session: a vampire studying in a castle during 1800s, an animal crossing study call, a window view with rain, the lofi girl, etc.

• take the time to be proud of yourself. You studied today, even if it's less than what you scheduled, you should be happy about it, you prioritized your dreams and did your best, celebrate it.

• live what you are studying. In my opinion/experience reducing studying to a daily activity like another kills motivation. It shouldn't be something that you do, it should be something that you live and breathe.

• create a vision board of what your dream life should look like, how magical everything will be once you achive your goals. Having a clear vision is important to remember that you're not sacrificing your free time, you're investing it.

• find a study buddy. I never succeeded in this unfortunately but I'm aware of how much it can help to stay on track and feel less anxious. I see my brother studying on video call with his friends all the time, they go to the lectures together, to the library, discuss exams, give each other tips, exchange notes and find strength and motivation in one another.

• try as much as you can to see it as a beautiful game that you will ache. Keep in mind that studying is a privilege, it can be exhausting and make you feel burn out sometimes because of the school system but it is not a burden. You are seeking knowledge, you are doing something amazing, don't forget it. šŸ¤

15 March (linear algebra study session)

Today was rough, I was constantly fighting tooth and nail to study, and ultimately didn’t get much done. As much as I love being neurodivergent, it definitely has its drawbacks. However I am going to be headed back to the doctor soon to try and help with my focus.

Just because someone looks alright doesn’t mean that they are conversely, don’t assume that people who don’t look the best are struggling.

I love all of you beautiful creatures

What is your note taking method, and how effective do you find it to be?

I want straight A’s at least once in my life, but I find that I don’t actually put in the work to get it done. Often times I find myself doing just enough to get by, and despite being a STEM student, I really haven’t done much in the way of studying.

As much as I enjoy math and science, I find it painful to get into studying the material, and do just enough to get a decent grade.

All of this revolves around time management and coping with my adhd, but THE BOREDOM IS REAL and there’s only so much I can do to combat that.

I know grades aren’t a true measurement of success, but just once I’d like to know the joy of being that student.

Desi Dark Academia Part 2

Listening to French, Hindi, Urdu, English music; songs in regional languages, one after the other.

Having a bookshelf stacked with books in multiple languages; you understand each of them and adore them all.

Chai or coffee? Both. Always.

Religious texts in multiple languages kept safe and stored some place worthy o holding something so holy and sacred. You do not buy these books, these are inherited and exist like you within the house.

Your room is a weird combination of modern and old- The desi things fused with a slight touch of the western world. It is okay; desi still holds a higher spot in your heart though.

Radios. Radios are everything.

Bazaars. Stores will never have anything on Bazaars- be it to buy books or clothes or sabzi.

The art of haggling.

Your books are a mess of titles- from a variety of topics to authors. Science and Math and Physics to specific niches and time periods of history; authors ranging from the most typical South Asian names to the most European.

A Couple Of You Guys Were Interested In What I Listen To During My Study Sessions, So Here I Am, With

a couple of you guys were interested in what i listen to during my study sessions, so here i am, with a masterpost of different sounds you can play in the background while you work! our brains are constantly looking for distractions, which is what makes staying focused hard in the first place - by playing quiet sounds in the background, you can provide your brain with small distractions. this way, it doesn’t have to direct effort into finding them on its own, meaning more of your overall focus can go into the material you’re studying :)

i’ve gathered my recs into 5 categories: ambience, soundtracks, soundtrack + ambience, classical music, and pomodoro study with me videos

and lastly before the cut, here’s a short legend:

(x) - indicates how long the track is (i.e. (2) = 2 hrs) (//) - no music or major sounds *** - current fave

How To Start Studying After School

how to start studying after school

clean up your desk: it’s hard to concentrate when there’s a pile of rubbish on your desk. the chance of you fiddling with things is also higher! you’ll get more done by cleaning your desk! if you’re looking for an easy way to organise your desk, check out these handy organisers!

get your books: get out all the books you need to study that particular subject. if it’s geography, an atlas might be handy.

get a notebook: if you’re in uni or college it’s a good idea to re-write all your notes for your classes that day. make them look clean and tidy. if you’re in secondary school and you’re studying for a test, summarize everything you have learned. in any case, it’s best to have a few notebooks on your desk too. here’s a 4 pack of spiral notebooks for $7.04!

grab some pens: seems self explanatory! i recommend you having an ordinary pen, a highlighter and a pencil on hand. (a.k.a. the basics!) here are some super cute gel pens!

turn off your phone: by turning off your phone, you will get less distracted by social media. sure, people won’t be able to reach you but you’ll get some peace and quiet. obviously leave it on if you’re expecting an important call!

look for a study playlist: if you easily get distracted by your laptop too, skip this step. i personally find it harder to get distracted by my laptop than my phone, so i leave it on and look for some music to study to. here’s a masterpost of some good playlists to listen to!

get a glass of water: you really need your h2o, everyone. grab a large glass or fill up a water bottle. some super cute ones: i ii iii

get a healthy snack: if you’re like me and you love snacking on things while your studying, the best thing to do is to grab something healthy. cut up some apples and sprinkle some cinnamon on them (try it. it’s amazing.), grab some hummus and some celery or carrots or cucumber to dip in it, fill a little bowl with nuts, treat yourself to a square of dark chocolate! if you’re studying during dinner time or lunch time, make yourself a nourishment bowl to nibble on. for more study snack ideas, go to pinterest and snoop around the study snack tag for a while. try out my favourite smoothie bowl too!

take a deep breath: i know from personal experience that sometimes the workload can be really scary and freak you out. the most important thing to do is to take a deep breath and to tell yourself you can get through all your work. you can do anything if you try hard enough!

get cracking: now that you’ve done steps 1-9, you can actually start studying! good luck!
