i love learning about how little guys stay cozy after it gets so cold, like some literally grow their own winter coats or build tiny grass nests deep in the earth or make powdery snow beds to sleep in. others go on vacation to The South — whether that’s socal, mexico or even the southern cone, where it is summer rn. then there are the hibernators, who go into a really deep sleep and occasionally wake up drowsily to pick at some food they saved months ago. in the north, the active ones rely on seeds and berries to survive, while their typical prey, insects, disappear into mud and rest until spring. such a dreamy state of existence for so many critters. 🤍
