1960s ‘Dolly Fashion’ a vintage predecessor to coquette!
Dolly fashion was an aesthetic movement in the 1960s coinciding with Mod / Carnaby street styles which focused on whimsical & youthful fashion, drawing inspiration from children’s clothing (& for some literally wearing children’s clothing.) Staples of the style included mini skirts and dresses, bows, ruffles, patterns, heavy Bambi eye makeup, blush, and playful hairstyles. Dolly girls were looking to embrace their girlhood and femininity through fashion. This movement was very visible in London, and some icons of the style include Pattie Boyd, Britt Ekland, & Jean Shrimpton.
