The Dark Side Of The Soul (Part 1)

Summary: When a bounty hunter is sent to capture Obi-Wan and Anakin, they end up trapped in the dungeons of Jabba The Hutt. The reader guards them as Jabba prepares for them to be eaten by the rancor. When they find they can’t mind trick the young bounty hunter, they are surprised to have her helping them anyways.

Request:  for you celebration (congratz by the way!!) maybe something with star wars? idk what the rest thinks? but I love star wars and would marry like, half of the characters

Requested: Annonymous   (I chose this one because its the only one that didn’t give away spoilers for the plot.

A/N: The pairing will not be stated until it becomes relevant for the story(Because I enjoy secrecy). Also, not set during any movie, but in between them finding Anakin and him going darkside. Also, the name given at the beginning is a fake for the sake of lying to gaining obi-wan’s trust.

This is a sort of prologue/introduction

A simple mission, Jabba had stated. Get in, grab the Jedi, get out. He repeatedly said that his favorite bounty hunter could handle the job, that you could handle it. So now, as you sat in the hall, watching the party carry on, your eyes searched for Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The young padawan was easily spotted hovering over Padme Amidala. A smirk threatened to cross your face at the love-struck look he sent her, but you kept the veil of serenity over it. Instead of mocking the young Jedi, you opted to look for his master, who was no longer in your sight. He had stood over there with them only moments ago, but now had completely vanished

“I would be flattered that you have been staring at me all night, but I doubt there wasn’t an ulterior motive.” The voice startled you, and you allowed yourself to jump in fear. If you had stayed still, suspicion would only grow in the Jedi Master.

“Oh! You scared me! What was that you were saying?” You feigned ignorance, hoping it was a good enough cover. Obi-Wan Kenobi seemed to buy it, a smile gracing his features.

“Nothing, but may I know the name of the woman who has been burning holes in my back all night?” A fake laugh escape your mouth while you internally gagged. He was most definitely trying to hard.

“Farrah Hadima, Master Kenobi. It is a pleasure to meet you. You and your Padawan are quite famous throughout the galaxy.” He nodded, looking to where he was flirting with Padme.

“Yes, and it seems he thinks that is going to impress Queen Amidala.” The Jedi sighed, rolling his eyes.

“You seem annoyed by that fact, though I don’t blame you. Maybe some fresh air will help.” You stated, leaning in close for effect. “I know how suffocating these parties can be, and I find some time away from them to be very relieving.” He seemed to consider your words, a smile threatening to stretch across his face.

“I really shouldn’t leave my post.” He said uncertainly, glancing to his Padawan. You internally rolled your eyes at how easy it would be to convince the Jedi. You faked a sickeningly sweet smile, eyes lighting up with false hope. Inching closer to the Jedi, your eyes sparkling.

“Oh come on, I’m sure your Padawan would be fine without you for a few moments.” He seemed to think, finally nodding at your proposal, making you internally scoff at his weak attempt to say no. It was a pity these were supposed to be great warriors.

You lead him from one of the room to the other, the large opening showing escape from the party. The one thing you didn’t lie about, your hatred for these things. It was a relief when you made it out, the Jedi Master in tow. He seemed blissfully unaware as to what was happening.

“You were right, this is what I needed. Thank you.” You were faced away from him, the smile long gone from your face. You were no longer that fake persona made for the party, but the cold and dangerous bounty hunter. He walked around you, as you grabbed a sedative gun from within your dress. It was loaded, ready to put him and his Padwan to sleep. 

“Who are you really?” He asked, voice no longer faking ignorance. A smile crept to your face. You knew he wasn’t that dumb, but you would still be his temporary downfall. 

In one fluid motion, you spun on him and injected the sedative into his neck. His eyes widened, hand flying to your wrist in a futile attempt to stop you. A real smile was now on your face, the rush of a capture filling you.

“(Y/N) (L/N). Sorry about this by the way, but Jabba has quite a large bounty on your head, and the head of your Padwan.” His eyes rolled back before you could say more, the supposedly powerful Jedi now out cold on the floor. You stashed the gun into the thigh holster under your dress, moving to pick up Obi-Wan Kenobi.

You heaved him up, looking for somewhere to stash him while you went to get the other one. A closet door was conveniently placed a few feet away, just big enough to fit him. You pushed him inside, wincing as he hit the ground with a thud.

“That must’ve hurt…” You closed the door, straightening out the sunset colored dress that hung from your shoulders, hoping to look decent enough to lure the Padawan out. you made your way back to the party, thinking up a plan on the spot. You hoped it would work, but if his master was that dumb, you doubted he would be any smarter. You tried to look like you were in a rush as you entered, making a bee line towards the Jedi. He was still talking to the queen, a bright smile across his face.

“Anakin!” You shouted, still trying to not draw attention. He whirled around at the sound of his name, eyes fixing on you. “Are you Anakin?” You asked. He nodded making you fake a sigh.

“That would be me. Who are you?” You shook your head in dismissal. 

“No time to explain. I was out walking with Obi-wan. He’s in trouble. Some bounty hunters jumped us.” Anakin’s eyes widened, your words making him turn to the queen.

“Stay here your highness, I’ll be right back.” He turned to you, his face serious. “Show me.” You nodded, internally sighing at how despicably easy this was. He was even easier to convince than his master.

You led him out of the main room and down the halls to the hallway where you had dropped his master. Another needle was loaded, gripped tightly in your hand and hidden from sight. Prepared to take on this Jedi if the moment came. You were coming up to the correct hall, and you glanced back at Anakin.

“Just around that corner to the left!” He nodded, rushing ahead of you just like you wanted him to. his feet pounded against the ground echoing in the silent hallway. As he rounded the corner and stopped, he finally realized why he had felt a disturbance in the force.

“Oh maker.” He said as he felt the needle pierce his neck. You smiled as he dropped to the floor, his robes pooling around him like blankets.

“This was disappointingly easy.” You stated, sighing as you went to gather the two Jedi to load into your ship and take to Jabba’s palace. “Painfully, disappointingly easy.”

Could you imagine what a chaotic duo Anakin and Qui gon would of been?

Qui gon would encouraged aaaallllll of Anakins reckless qualities.

He'd be like 'Master should I do the thing?' And Qui gon would be like 'What is the force telling you?' 'It' s telling me to do the thing.'' Then do the thing'

Anakin then proceeds to jump out of a 20 story building into oncoming traffic.

'Feel, dont think padawan.' Anakin then proceeds to never think again.

They actively encourage each other to disobeyed the council.

Mace Windu is DONE with these two.

"Qui gon where is your padawan?" "He's on Rancoor 5." "But the council specifically told you both..." "The living force must be listend to." "Dont give me that crap."

And it gets twelve time worse when the Clone wars hit.

Disobeying orders left right and center, never sticking to one plan, Qui gon refuses to wear armour, and when they do stick to a plan its reckless as hell.

And Obi wan is dragged along for every thing as they council teams them up in hope that he will control them.

He cant, he usally just goes with it.

And then cries into Codys shoulder about the level of stress they both put him through.

"They made me fight a pit dragon Cody. A pit dragon!" "I know sir." "They had no plan and they both nearly got eaten." "I know sir." "I cant deal with them together!" "I know sir, have some tea."

Even though Cody knows Obi wan is JUST as reckless as they are.

How to spot signs and symptoms of Breast Cancer

Everyone’s talking about Idina’s amazing performances in Into The Unknown and Show Yourself, and the hilarious 80s music video, but I haven’t seen anyone talk about the breathtaking moment when the Northuldra people realize that the sisters are part of them and they form a spiral and start singing before chanting the opening lines that you hear in the beginning of the first film:

What do you imagine it would be like if Zuko was the Avatar while Aang was a normal boy?

While I find in theory the Avatar Zuko concepts really appealing, I’m struggling quite a bit to formulate cohesive headcanons about it. 

Every time I think about, I always end up with terribly dark and angsty scenarios. I think if Zuko was the Avatar, it would manifest when he gets burnt by his father - just like Aang went in the Avatar state during the storm to protect him. He wouldn’t be able to control it, so he would cause a big destruction in the arena, giving more ammunition to the FN propaganda that the Avatar is an evil, destructive being. 

Zuko would freak out from the destruction he caused and he would fall into complete despair over what he’s done, what he is (a freak, a No 1 enemy of his own country). He asks to be killed, but Ozai doesn’t want to hear about it. It’s the perfect opportunity; they have the Avatar, if they kill him; he’ll only be reborn. 

At this point, Zuko gets imprisoned, like Aang was by Zhao - kept barely alive, cut off from all elements. He hallucinates, his past lives try to talk some sense into him, but he doesn’t want to listen to them. He gets very sick, and the doctors are sure that he will die if he’s not allowed to bend again. 

Then Ozai comes up with an even more sinister plan; Zuko can only regain his honour, if he masters all the elements so he can go into the Avatar State on purpose to be killed in that state, ridding the Fire Nation and the world of the Avatar spirit for once and all. Zuko - desperate to please his father and prove his loyalty - agrees. 

He sets out to the Air Temples, trying to master air-bending. Without a master, with all the scrolls destroyed, it’s a hopeless task. He lives there alone, meditating, arguing with his past lives who are angry at him and what he plans to do and refuse to help him. His only companion is a very persistent flying lemur. Then one day, unexpected visitors show up - two kids from the water tribe and the last airbender, who somehow survived a 100-year hibernation in ice and is now looking for his people. 

Suddenly, Zuko has a viable path to learn air-bending. And so a journey begins.

‘We’re fighting for our rights, militantly.’

The suffragettes weren’t a peaceful political party but a militant organisation. They were going to get the vote and by any means necessary. They performed hunger strikes, broke into parliament with weapons and were even responsible for arson. Their motto was “Deeds not words”. 

The term ‘suffragettes’ was first used by the Dail Mail (a right wing UK newspaper) to ridicule the women of the WSPU organisation, lead by Emily Pinkhurst, but the women took the term and embraced it and changing it to “SuffraGets” suggesting not only do they want the rights to vote by they will get it.

Emmeline Pankhurst found the organisation and was arrested numerous times for her demonstrations, Leonora Cohen smashed the display case for the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London, Emily Davison died after stepping in front of a King’s horse in 1913, Constance Markievicz became the first woman elected to the British House of Commons though she didn’t take her seat as an Irish liberation activist, Princess Sophia Duleep Singh became an activist after seeing the horrors committed by the British on a trip to her home nation, India. 

Thank you to Emmeline Pankhurst, Christabel Pankhurst, Emily Davison, Princess Sophia Duleep Singh, Edith Garrud, Leonora Cohen, Millicent Fawcett, Constance Markievicz and the women of the Women’s Social and Political Union for fighting for women’s rights to vote. 

Wealthy women who owned property received the right to vote in 1918 and all women aged 21  and over (same as men), regardless of wealth, in 1928 (1928 Equal Franchise Act).

Comments: This is my favorite Merthur fan fiction of all time!!! It relieved my grieving of the Merlin finale by giving me the series 6 I’ve been longing for. Merlin and Arthur are written incredibly well and in character. The banter between them flows beautifully. I love the original characters, especially Eleanor. It has both angst and fluff. It made me sob, and laugh, and smile. When the slow burn between our two main characters ends it’s such an immense relief and rush of emotion. I followed this story as each chapter was being updated and I just remember the anticipation of each chapter coming out, especially when chapters ended on cliffhangers. I can go on for ages about this, but I think I will end it here. This story is just pure beauty, honestly.

Student Prince

Comments: I love this! Not long after joining the fandom did I discover that many people had read and enjoyed this fic immensely. It is hilarious and adorable and great. Merlin and Arthur’s relationship develops in a very similar way to the canon, from disliking each other, to becoming best friends, and then falling in love. I love the modern twist on the canon. It is engaging and comedic and should be read by many.

Give the Dragon a Chilli

Comments: This story is freaking adorable and made me want a pet dragon. As both a dog person and dragon lover this fic made me weak. I love the world that was created so that it intertwines dragons, magic and the modern world. The angst written in the story is suspenseful. I fell in love with Merlin and Arthur’s pets, Aithusa and Cavall, right away. As well, on a personal note, when Freya’s character was introduced and has an incurable illness and goes to physical therapy, I felt very connected to her due to my own chronic condition and happy that I was being represented in a way. All in all, loved it. The whole thing is a pure cinnamon roll and a great read.

Shadowlord and Pirate King

Comments: Adventurous, engaging, and edgy. This story is a great blend of adventure, science fiction, and fantasy. I love the entire world that the author builds: Pirate space, the House of Shadows, and the White Legion. The artwork is stunningly beautiful and brings this story to life. This story is very engaging, full of adventure and romance, and there is never a dull moment. Love it!

A Song From Far Away

Comments: This made me cry many times over. I’ve read a variety of this author’s fics, and like this one they are often very sorrowful and intense but end on a lighthearted note. The mistreatment of Merlin is ghastly but makes it so much sweeter when Arthur comes along to help and love him. I wanted to kill Cenred throughout the entire thing for what he does to Merlin. The story is magical and very captivating, and the artwork is enchanting and wonderful (which isn’t much of a surprise since @mushroomtale-fanart did it and is incredibly talented).

Tributes

Comments: Merlin meets the Hunger Games! This was the first ever Merthur fanfic I read that hooked me into reading fan fiction. After reading and thoroughly enjoying the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins, imagine my delight when I stumble across this. This story is great and does justice to both the Hunger Games universe and BBC Merlin. I love how the author writes the characters and keeps the readers starving for more. Each twist is stirring, and every character is interesting. It holds a special place in my heart.

Emrys Ascending

Comments: It’s a Harry Potter crossover, so obviously it’s amazing. But out of all the Harry Potter crossovers I’ve read, this one is my favorite. I love the fact that the author is able to intertwine Merlin with the Harry Potter universe so well. Merlin being a Hufflepuff, while not being canonical to what J.K Rowling said, is something I love (which may or may not be because I am a Hufflepuff as well). I also agree that Merlin has the characteristics of every Hogwarts house as said in this story. The fact that Merlin becomes a sort of mentor for Harry is really cool. This is an adventurous ride and sticks as closely to the plot of The Goblet of Fire as possible, while changing things up for Merlin. My favorite part of this fic is that Merlin and Arthur are able to reunite in such a heartwarming way, and of course the artwork.

No One Mourns Like the Wicked

Comments:  “No one mourns the wicked! Wicked! Wicked!” This story is very fun and got me loving the Wicked soundtrack, since I sadly could never get tickets. It’s comedic, magical, and has a great way tying the play in with the reality surrounding the characters. I love how it has many funny moments and yet deals with big issues. Whimsical, witty, and wicked.

Pianos are made for Falling

Comments: Poetry and love in music. I love pianist Merlin and his little budgies. I had a heart attack whenever his illness acted up though! Every time Merlin and Arthur fight I just want to tell Arthur about Merlin’s illness. The music of their duets flies off the page as you read it. It’s spectacular.

The Heart You Call Home

Comments: A heart-warming reincarnation fic with Arthur as a writer. You can feel Merlin’s longing and pain in the beginning as he’s waiting for Arthur to return. It’s quite emotional when they finally find each other. Also, the addition of Arthur’s dog Drake is adorable. This is emotional and stupendous.

So I have enjoyed reading some brilliant Merlin inspired fics and here’s a collection of some of my favourites:

-Paint my spirit gold by andiwould (19k)

Arthur’s agreed to come to the druid camp so that he can see this Emrys the prophecy talks about and unite their lands, but Emrys won’t meet him. Instead, Arthur’s been left with this young druid called Merlin that parades around half-naked and smiles too much. At first, Arthur feels as though there’s not much more to him than just that, but later he discovers that he’s been wrong all along and that Emrys has been closer to him than he thought.

- The King of Mars by Ivalee (Chapters 5/5)

As children, the Pendragon siblings were obsessed with the space program. They dreamt of becoming astronauts and one day walking on another planet. Their dream leads them to NASA where the revelation of magic suddenly brings Mars within our reach. The Camelot 1 crew, including both Pendragons and powerful sorcerer, Merlin Emrys, land on Mars, and the world celebrates – until a Martian storm cuts the mission short and tragedy strikes. Arthur is killed, and Morgana makes the difficult decision to leave her brother’s body behind on Mars. His crewmates and the world mourn his loss, until Gwen Smith, a clever engineer at NASA, makes a shocking discovery: Arthur is alive.

His ingenuity and determination will get him far, but will Arthur be able to survive alone on Mars until help arrives?

The legends all say that King Arthur will return when Britain needs him most. That’s why Merlin is confused when Arthur is awoken in the twenty-first century. The country isn’t under attack, the pound remains strong, British artists are topping the Billboard charts, really, the only thing amiss is Merlin’s magic. At first, Merlin thinks it’s technology interfering with the balance of magic in the world, but with the arrival of Arthur, he’s not so sure. When Gwaine and Percival also reappear, together the four men try to find the cause of the magical failure. Eventually they track the problem down to a CEO of an energy industry giant who looks suspiciously like Morgana, and the four old friends are forced to stop her. All the while, Merlin has his hands full with three medieval knights trying to adjust to life in the twenty-first century.

- The Unintentional Wooing Skills of Arthur Pendragon by giselleslash (5k)

Arthur is a master of wooing…if one defines master as ‘a complete and utter tragedy’. Somehow Merlin doesn’t seem to mind all that much.

-A Modern Manservant by Mamalazzer (Chapters 2/2)

A modern magical comedy very loosely based on Ugly Betty. Publishing king Uther Pendragon has had enough of his playboy son seducing every female assistant he has ever had so he hires Merlin, a man he is sure Arthur will never sleep with. Merlin would be more insulted by this fact if he wasn’t so busy trying to juggle his duties, save Arthur’s skin from ruthless fashionistas and keep his magic a secret at the same time. Expect appearances by oil-lathered knights, the occasional mad druid, a perverted Will and a mental caretaker who lives in the basement and keeps harping on about coins and destiny.

- Warden (Of the Land) Primal (Of the Sea)  by FrozenMarVel (Chapters 20/20)

Arthur is a half-human, half-atlantean warrior, popularly known as the Aquaman. Following his world saving feat with his fellow League heroes, he does his best to use his natural abilities for the good of humankind. Enter captivating, fierce Merlin, a Prince of the Seas, who insists on Arthur’s help to stop his power hungry half-brother King Mordred from forcefully uniting the oceanic people to conquer the surface world.

The Kingdom of Atlantis needs its one true heir to take the throne, but can Arthur set aside his anger at the people who murdered his Queen Mother for bearing a half-breed? Amid Primordial Creatures, Legendary Weapons and Powerful Sea Sorcerers, Arthur must stop a great war and save everyone, while enduring Merlin’s irresistible self.

Aithusa might have been no bigger than a house cat but she was still a dragon. That meant wings, claws, and her own personal hoard, which in Aithusa’s case included soft pillows, fluffy socks, and much to Merlin’s chagrin, stolen pants. When Merlin found out that his winged ward had stolen a rather considerable pile of clothing for her hoard, he thought that it would be the end of any kind of friendship with his neighbour. But when Merlin met the victim of Aithusa’s burglary, he was pleasantly surprised to find Arthur, a man who had never in his life seen a dragon let alone a burglarizing one, and Cavall, a curious German Shepherd puppy who was quick to befriend the little white dragon. From there, it was only the beginning.

- A (Marginally Secret) Sorcerer on Her Majesty’s (Marginally Secret) Service…Plus a prat of a Field Agent by Phoenix_Rose  (Series)

Merlin Myrddin is our definitely, entirely, completely secret Sorcerer.

Arthur Pendragon is out definitely, entirely, completely magic-hating field agent.

Merlin definitely doesn’t call Arthur ‘Prince’ as a pet name (it’s a codename).

Arthur definitely doesn’t call Merlin ‘Emrys’ because he’s in awe of his power in any way.

And most importantly of all - they are definitely not dating against protocol, Uther Pendragon’s wishes, and the logic of every person in Great Britain.

-We duel at dawn by clotpolesonly (2k)

Merlin was squinting at him, concentrating very hard. Arthur waited for him to say whatever it was he was thinking so hard about.

What he finally got was, “Fight me.”

Arthur was hard-pressed not to laugh out loud. Merlin looked so determined, his chin up and eyes narrowed, but he was obviously still high as balls.

- About Time by rosewatergold (55k)

After losing Arthur, Merlin semi-accidentally travels back in time. In an attempt to change the future, Merlin takes Morgana under his wing and trains her in magic, all the while trying to pretend he’s not still in love with an Arthur who doesn’t remember that they used to be married (in the future, that is), keeping an eye out for Morgause, and juggling Camelot’s run of the mill crises. You know, the usual manservant stuff.
