''You're my precious secret...''
Some more valentines art, and an introduction of Åse's childhood ''gal pal'' Nora. Nora being the daughter of a wealthier family couldn't openly be Åse's friend but they hung out a lot in secret, and held hands, and kissed sometimes. looking back as an adult Åse views it as her first relationship but at the time they were just special friends. Each others most precious secret.
Nora was adopted and is originally from Greece, this often makes her feel out of place in her family. Being outsiders in a sense is something she and Åse bond over. She wants to be an actor or an opera singer when she grows up, and writes little plays but she has only ever showed them to Åse. She has always fancied girls over boys, even if she wasn't aware. Though looking back there were some signs, like that one time she started crying uncontrollably after having a dream she was married to a man.
Once finished I’ll probably also use this to say I’m on his stream playing Marvel Rivals

Anyway: I’ll tag @lunaristole27 , @akosisab , @yanci-indigo , @acesandocs ,, and only if y’all want to !

(Transcription for any who find the image too blurry):
Born: November 27th, 1903
Salem, Massachusetts
Maeve Midwinter, the proprietor (and solitary worker) of a cosy little bookstore in downtown St. Louis. The epitome of a pristine and upstanding citizen, she carries herself with utmost pride. Serving her community like the very legal citizen she is.
Well... Aside from her random bursts of uncontrollable rage. But she will assure you it was just the amount of caffeine she had in her coffee that morning, "It's nothing, I assure you!". But besides that, Maeve has devoted her life to her books, the few things in life she finds worth her time. That, and the fact that she chooses to associate with what her mother would call the scum of the earth, supplying speakeasies with a portion of illegally made wine. Though perhaps being a supplier certainly has its... Perks. For example, getting to know the charming Australian bootlegger working for the infamous Marigold gang. Who she seems to have taken quite the liking to.
Among the pleasantness of her small bookshop on the corner, this gentlewoman enjoys listening to the ambience of her many records on her gramaphone. Coupled with the oh so calming turn of a book page when nobody is around. Loving all fashion with ruffles and jewels to them, she collects anything even remotely shiny she can get her little mitts on. As well as being an avid lover of dark humour, and strawberry flavoured macarons.
Very happy to have Maeve's character card done, I find her to be the more ostentatious of the three given her... wealthier upbringing.
As always, have a dazzling rest of your day/night! 😘

Finally finished with the Åse standee. The flower inb the back is suposed to be Purple loosetrife.
Purple loosetrifes (Lythrum salicaria) are a pink flower that is part of the Lythraceae family. They bloom in autumn tend to grow near water. They're call Kattehale in Norwegian witch translates to Cattail not to be confused with the American Cattail which I don’t think grow anywhere in Norway. They are one of the many plants that grow around the Mjøsa lake. I chose this flower to represent Ace mostly because of it’s location and name. As far as I can tell it doesn't have any specific meaning but the name lythrum might be derived from the Greek word for blood. Red is Ace’s primary color and in general I associate Ace with blood more specifically the blood that gathers under your nails when scratching someone. (its weirdly specific I know but for some reason thats the strongest visual representation I’ve imagined for Ace for the longest time idk) loosetrife also contains the word strife which I also feel ties into Ace and her story allot.
I went for something more stylized for the flowers. I'm not good at painting realism so I think this is the best I can do lol.
There’s something I absolutely love about watercolor being incorporated into classic pencil/ink drawings
Like this concept sketch by Hayao Miyazaki:
There’s something about it that I absolutely love and want to incorporate into my style
Okay fun question for y'all—
What's that one thing you love about artstyles? Like what specific characteristic that grabs your attention everytime?
Anyone can share!!!
Those who joined us for the Million Sub Stream this weekend, thank you so much for the support, the fun prompts, and the laughs! Here's the entire canvas of drawings the crew did. There's a full res version here too, in case anyone wants a closer look or to clip out their requested doodle.
Calliope: Recollection
(a poorly drawn mini-comic inspired by a recent convo between yours truly and @ahhhh-118, enjoy!)
Translation:
Cairns family homestead, 1917...
Adeline: Calliope?... Where are you going with that shovel?
Calliope: just gonna go withdraw some money, mum.
Calliope (in mind): just a little money...
A few years earlier...
Robert: Oi, Calli! Where yah goin'?
Calliope: Goin' down to feed the sheep, why?
Callum: *narrows eyes in suspicion*
Robert: You've only got a few more bucks in your allowance, so.yah betta make it count.
Calliope: Yessir!
Calliope (in present mind): *sigh*
Calliope (still in present mind): It's just to keep us fed... I promise I'll pay you back... Someday
For context, this follows an eighteen year old Calliope (aka, when she still had long hair) whose mother approaches her about where she's going. Calliope responds that she's going to withdraw money, but doesn't tell her that she's withdrawing money from the secret stash of money Calli and her brothers had stolen from banks and buried out on their families property (they come from a family of cattle farmers). Calli reminisces to herself about only taking a little, before we're thrown back to a fifteen year old Calli with her two older brothers Robert and Callum. Robert asks Calli where she's going and she responds with lie, of which her brothers catch onto. Robert replying with what he knows she's actually going to do, and says to use the rest of what she has in her 'allowance' wisely. As to make it even they had divided up their loot. Calli salutes him with her shovel before we cut to eighteen year old Calli thinking to herself, this time about how she would pay back her brothers the money she took from them to be able to feed her and her mother while they were away fighting in the great war. If they ever did come home, that is...
Woo, that was a doozy! Sorry for making the post so long 😅, there was just too much info I wanted to stuff in. Thank you so very much to the people that read this far!
With that in mind, have a splendiferous day/night!
I decided to finally make an actual pfp for Tumblr, and although I had plans for a completely different one, I became attached to the idea of it being my OCs of my current fixation(s) simply sharing a space

How do you draw so well on paper without getting frustrated with your own art? Bless me with a tip pls
I often draw very messily on paper. I just clean it up afterwards, either by erasing stray marks and guidelines and relining the drawing, or by scanning and doing digital touchups. Or I just leave some of the messiness there because sometimes that has more personality and charm than a pristine, polished drawing does. I am also in a near perpetual state of frustration with my art. I think that's normal for anyone doing any sort of creative work. Having to erase and redraw something, having to reconfigure your approach after trying and failing the first few times, having to relent and seek out some reference material - it's a confluence of frustration and challenge. As maddening as it can be, it's also part of what keeps things interesting. If it was all completely effortless, what satisfaction would there be in doing it?
I guess if there's a tip in here somewhere, it's to embrace frustration. If you're feeling frustrated, it's a good indication you have a critical eye for your own work and that you're venturing beyond your comfort zones. Both of those things are essential to improving. (That's not to say you should torture yourself. If you're so frustrated that your blood pressure is spiking, well, take a break, cool off, return after a refresh.)
emery's standee design!
took me a while to finish
Benjamin meets Mordecai’s family once; when Mordecai made an effort to visit home during his mother’s passing. He and his Aunt Rosie got along the absolute best! Esther is not really a fan of kids so the relationship is cordial but kind. He only knew his grandmother for two days before her death but she was very happy to meet him, even briefly.
TW DEATH , TW MURDER
Mordecai was no longer in the business by this point. But as a final act of his former self, he went out on the eve of his mother’s death and killed his former adversaries that were keeping him from visiting. His worry was, if Benjamin ever sought to visit NY on his own, they might mistake him for Mordecai. Plus, the men seeking revenge on him were now significantly older than when they first encountered each other.
Because of social stigmas at the time, Mordecai essentially lied and said his wife had passed during childbirth.
Here’s an old drawing of Mordecai and Benjamin arriving to New York for the visit!
